Not every trip home comes with a smile. The NFL quarterback, Ben DiNucci, knows that better than most. Last month, during roster cuts, the Atlanta Falcons let the 28-year-old go. That marked the seventh time in his career an NFL team had cut him. So yes, when it was finally time for him to head back home, it wasn’t exactly a “welcome back” kind of moment.

“Not many beers better than the airport ‘I just got cut from the NFL for the 7th time’ beer,” DiNucci wrote on X. “Trust me, you wouldn’t understand.” Fast forward to now, almost Week 4 of the 2025 season, and the former Cowboys signal-caller is making his way back to the league. Only this time, he won’t be taking snaps under the center, or even hitting the practice field for that matter.
Instead, DiNucci has now joined SiriusXM NFL Radio, the same radio that talks about the NFL 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. DiNucci is joining the team for this season. “Excited to join the team over @siriusxmnflradio for the NFL season !! He shared the news on his Instagram handle last week.

“Catch me today with Bruce Murray from 12-3pm ET. We’ll be talking Thursday night football and looking ahead at the weeks matchups. Stop by, come check it out, and have some fun! 🎙️🏈.” After going undrafted in the 2020 NFL draft, DiNucci signed with the Cowboys. The 28-year-old started in just one game in the three games that he appeared in his rookie season.

Since then, the former Cowboys’ QB has been a journeyman for the past few years and hasn’t started another NFL game. Denver, Buffalo, New Orleans, and Atlanta, you name it. He’s been there. But that stability under the centre? It has remained MIA throughout his short NFL career so far. The result? He’s now joined the SiriusXM NFL Radio team.
A look at Ben DiNucci’s NFL career so far
Ben DiNucci never really found that stability under center as five different teams cut ties with him. Sometimes he’d get cut before preseason or even during training camp. Other times, right before the regular season, he’d get a call from some unknown number, only to hear that the team wasn’t moving forward with him. And it wasn’t just a standalone story.
“On cut day, you never want to see your phone ring from a random number,” DiNucci wrote in a special segment for The Athletic. “That’s usually someone from the team saying, ‘Hey, so-and-so wants to talk to you. Can you bring your iPad, your charger, your playbooks?‘” After spending some time in Dallas, he signed with the Broncos in 2023. But this time, the QB had a more straightforward experience.

During his time in Denver, DiNucci’s quarterback coach gave him honest advice: “If you do what you’re supposed to, you’re going to be around,” the QB coach, Davis Webb, said. DiNucci appreciated this honesty, and when the Broncos decided to cut him a few months later, he described that as a positive experience. “You’ve done everything we’ve asked of you. This is not us saying bye to you at all. We’re really excited about what you’ve done. We want you back,” he addressed his conversation with Sean Payton.
From there, Ben DiNucci went on to spend some time with the Bills and the Saints before eventually joining the Falcons earlier this year. Fast forward to now, Atlanta rolled into the season with Michael Penix Jr. and Kirk Cousins. DiNucci, meanwhile, has left his quarterbacking gig to join SiriusXM NFL Radio.
