In a recent discussion between NFL analysts Dan Orlovsky and Damien Woody, the spotlight turned to the New York Jets and their potential for the upcoming season. Orlovsky suggested that the Jets‘ Super Bowl aspirations may heavily rely on one factor.

He said, “Jets right now the Jets have the third-best roster on paper in the conference. I would put it behind Kansas City.” However, he also pointed out that while other teams in the conference may have evident weaknesses, the Jets’ uncertainties are mainly tied to health concerns, particularly regarding key players like Tyron Smith, Mike Williams, and Aaron Rodgers. He said, “If Tyron Smith, if Mike Williams if if Aaron Rogers are healthy, this team could absolutely be in the AFC Championship.”

The conversation delved into the significant gap in Rodgers’ on-field presence. Orlovsky emphasized that by the time the season kicks off, it will have been over two and a half years since Rodgers won his last MVP award and nearly 20 months since his last meaningful snap in the NFL. 

Woody acknowledged the risks associated with the Jets’ offseason acquisitions. While praising the team for their strategic moves, Woody highlighted health as the primary concern. He said, “Tyrone Taylor, when he’s you know Tyron Smith when he’s healthy, he’s one of the best left tackles” He emphasized that the success of these acquisitions hinges on the players’ ability to stay healthy throughout the season.

While the acquisition of Rodgers brought hope, the team’s over-reliance on the veteran quarterback may not be enough to overcome their shortcomings.

Jets’ reliance on Aaron Rodgers may be a setback!

The dream took an unexpected turn as A-Rod’s much-anticipated debut season with the Jets was cut short because of a season-ending injury.

With Rodgers sidelined, the team turned to backup QB Zach Wilson, acknowledging the possibility of a less-than-ideal outcome. The Jets ultimately finished the season with a 7-10 record, leaving both the franchise and Rodgers determined to make every effort to clinch Super Bowl LIX this time around. 

Recent comments from NFL insider John Middlekauff have cast doubt on the Jets’ Super Bowl aspirations with Rodgers at the helm. He said, “Unless Aaron is playing at a top five level as a quarterback, I don’t see this team having any chance.” Middlekauff emphasized the challenges of ageing in the NFL, stressing that unless Rodgers maintains a top-five level of performance, the team’s chances of success are slim. He highlighted the pressure that comes with playing in New York and the importance of avoiding distractions to focus solely on football.
