The Eagles unfortunately keep reaching new lows in the season. Where they were supposed to be the Super Bowl challengers and defend their NFC title, the side lost their 5th game of the season in week 17, that too against a now 4-12 Cardinals side.

Being a leader of the team, there are very few people currently more disappointed than safety Jason Kelce. Reporters reached straight to the locker room to catch a comment regarding that from him, but Kelce didn’t look like he wanted to talk about the ‘frustrating loss.’

Jason Kelce had a very simple view of the game, which he shared with one of the reporters following the game. When asked about their mishap in the last quarter as they conceded a return TD, Kelce had it straight. “Offensively we didn’t play good enough, defensively we didn’t play good enough… Really really frustrating loss”, the safety remarked as they were sub-par in performance altogether with no units functioning as expected.

“We were trying to run the ball and get positive yards. I think we had some plays that we just didn’t execute. So, obviously, it didn’t work,” stated Kelce, as their plans failed multiple times earning them a disappointing loss at such a crucial stage. The aftermath? The 49ers retain the NFC lead and matters look to turn in the wrong direction for the Super Bowl finalists of last year.

But, unfortunately, that’s exactly what’s happening with the Eagles at the moment. And with another loss, they are back to the drawing board once again.

Fellow 11-4 side, the Lions, lost to the Cowboys as well, dragging each other around in the NFC race. And with these results, the surprising winner from the week became the 49ers who maintained their NFC lead with a win. A Super Bowl reappearance looks a far cry for the birds at the moment, but it’s never too late for a miracle. Can the Eagles bring it to match the rare feat of consecutive Super Bowl appearances? The answer can only be known from their determination and performance in the clash against the Giants.

My story of becoming an NFL writer is as interesting as my story of becoming an MMA practitioner. Coming from such a sport where athletes look to knock the brain cells off each other for a living, I liked the aggression that American Football had to offer. Before I even realized it, I religiously started following American football, picking up the most challenging in-depth write-ups.
