You know how training camp scrums between NFL teams often spiral into full-on dust-ups? This year is no exception. Take that Patriots and the Commanders joint session, where rookie TreVeyon Henderson absolutely flattened a defender, sparked a scrum, and somehow had Mike Vrabel diving in… only to walk away with a bloodied cheek from his own guy, Will Campbell. Instant camp legend. Really?

Then Baltimore’s Nate Wiggins decided a punt drill was the perfect time to sprint off the sideline and start swinging at Colts RB Tyler Goodson. And yes, full-blown brawl. Not to be outdone, the Titans and Bucs turned their workout into a demolition derby, with Bucky Irving dishing out crunching hits and even an injured Tristan Wirfs hobbling in on crutches to join the fun. And now?

Well, the regular season is still a few weeks away, and the word is the Jets and Giants just had their own major dust-up. Literally. Both the New York teams kicked off their joint practice session this week, and the action was guaranteed. But not the kind we expected. Connor Hughes of SNY, who covers the New York teams, reported a major 5-men fight at the joint practice.

The included players in the fight were the Giants’ RB, Tyrone Tracy Jr., guard Jon Runyan Jr., and Greg Van Roten (a former Jet), Jets’ DE, Will McDonald, and CB Qwan’tez Stiggers. “A couple big Tyrone Tracy runs and a fight breaks out between the #Giants & #Jets. Runyan, Will McDonald, Stiggers all involved. GVR chipping too. It’s getting testy!” Connor reported.

It all started when McDonald tackled Tracy Jr. to the ground, and let’s just say the Giants’ offensive line didn’t take that lightly. Roten and McDonald then got tangled up and hit the ground with Roten on top. The plot just gets thickened from here. Giants rookie Marcus Mbow jumped in and, with Van Roten backing him up, landed a couple of shots on McDonald.

Over on the other side, Stiggers and Runyan were already going at it. Stiggers yanked off Runyan’s helmet and squared up to the much bigger lineman like he wasn’t even fazed. That’s when Aaron Stinnie and Russell Wilson had to step in and play peacemakers before things got completely out of hand. Just another day of the football season. Meanwhile, the Giants’ quarterback, Wilson, is still struggling at the joint practice.

A major complaint for Russell Wilson came to light from the joint practice

The Giants travelled to Florham Park, N.J., for their first of two joint practices against the Jets this week. And let’s just say it wasn’t all glitter and touchdown for the Big Apple. Russell Wilson, who’s expected to start the regular season, struggled to lead the Giants‘ offense. Stats? Just 2 pass completions of 5 attempts.

Meanwhile, Fox Sports’ reporter Ralph Vacchiano explained it precisely. “Just a terrible day so far for the Giants first-team offense against the Jets first-team D,” he reported. “Lots of protection problems. Russell Wilson is 2 of 5 and mostly has to scramble or dump the ball off.” On the other hand, Wilson’s teammate and the Giants’ rookie quarterback, Jaxon Dart, turned heads at the joint practice, as he threw more down the field and completed 8 of 13 passes. Fast forward to today, and we’ve the latest insights from day 2 of the joint practice between the Giants and Jets.

Connor Hughes straight-up reported, while noting, “Two-minute situation drill. 10-10. 1:06 left. No turnouts. Started at 32. Russell Wilson got to the #Giants 43. Field goal no good. Way too much dinking and dunking in that drive.” Translation? After starting the drive at their own 32-yard line, Wilson moved the ball to the Giants’ 43-yard line. But they missed the FG attempt.

However, the major complaint is that Wilson’s passes were mostly short, safe throws, to be precise, rather than taking bigger shots down the field. So, day 2 of the joint practice between both the New York teams included a couple of highlight reel moments. For starters, a major fight broke out between the players. And second, Russell Wilson seems to struggle a bit.
