With 6:12 remaining in the first half, the second-year wideout was jumping in an attempt to catch a pass from the rookie quarterback, Jaxson Dart, who is starting his first NFL game.

At first, it appeared that Nabers had landed on his right shoulder. However, further reports confirmed that the wideout’s knee buckled when he went down.

The live broadcast showed Nabers in deep pain as he went down on the turf, holding his right knee. The trainers rushed in and carted Nabers off the field, with the Giants leading the Chargers 10-3 at the time of the wideout’s knee complication.

That’s where NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport comes in. The analyst added another layer to Nabers’ injury as he noted that the wideout has probably torn his ACL.

“WR Malik Nabers is believed to have torn his ACL, per me and @TomPelissero. A crushing blow,” Rapoport shared via ‘X’.

That’s the last thing Brian Daboll and the Giants would like to hear. While the Giants haven’t made it official yet, a torn ACL means Nabers could miss the rest of the season.

The 22-year-old entered the Week 4 game with 32 catches for 251 yards (fourth highest among the WRs) through the first three games of the season.

Before getting carted off, Nabers managed a couple of catches for 20 yards on the Giants’ opening drive, helping them grab an early 7-0 lead.

But injuries have been a constant thorn for Nabers. He’s already battled shoulder, toe, and back issues this past offseason/regular season. And now, of all times, he’s sidelined in Dart’s first start. And yes, it has left the Giants to figure out how to adjust their passing game on the fly.

Malik Nabers entered Week 4 with a painful shoulder

For Jaxson Dart to really find his footing as a rookie, he’s going to need his top receivers firing on all cylinders. But right now, Malik Nabers isn’t exactly holding down his end of the bargain.

And we’re not even talking about the recent knee injury yet. That still needs to be officially confirmed by the Giants.

The bigger issue is the string of complications and nagging injuries Nabers has been dealing with for a while, which could make life tough for Dart in his first start.

Earlier this week, Nabers sat out practice on Wednesday due to a shoulder injury. The injury likely happened in Week 3 against the Chiefs, when he went airborne for a flashy catch and crash-landed in the end zone.

He sat out for practice on Wednesday. But returned the very next day. “He’s going to take reps. He’ll be OK,” Daboll confirmed on Thursday.

And sure, he looked fine at the time. Fast forward to now, though, and he’s been sidelined with a knee injury. Rapoport suspects it’s a torn ACL. We’ll have to wait for the Giants to make it official.
