“Have No Regrets”: Patrick Mahomes Clarifies He’s Not Chasing Tom Brady, But To Be The Best Version of Himself

Patrick Mahomes is determined to give his best in every game! The Chiefs’ leading quarterback has continued to grow in every game he plays. He has earned enough plaudits in the NFL realm in just a short period. Furthermore, he won three Super Bowls with the Chiefs in his fifth year. He is often compared to the NFL GOAT Tom Brady for these attainments, but the star quarterback Mahomes begs to differ.

With the stunning win in Super Bowl LVIII, the star quarterback has won his third MVP title and became the third player to win the award more than two times after Tom Brady and Hall of Famer Joe Montana. That’s why many think he’s following in TB12’s footsteps, but Mahomes is more focused on forging his own identity and being the best version of himself. He even admitted it on The Pat McAfee Show.

Mahomes wants to build his own identity

During the latest episode of The Pat McAfee ShowPatrick Mahomes joined virtually to discuss the hurdles and feelings after winning the Super Bowl this season. As the discussion progressed, McAfee asked Mahomes about the buzz associated with the Chiefs following in the footsteps of the Patriots. Mahomes added they are not chasing the Patriots but want to build the Chiefs dynasty.

Furthermore, the host wanted Mahomes’ stance on whether he liked being compared to the NFL GOAT Tom Brady. To that, Mahomes tactfully answered, “Um, I mean, I like it because I mean, he is the greatest of all time, so I liked being compared to him, but I still have to go long in my career. I mean the longevity, the consistent greatness that he had every single year. Um, all I can do is try to continue to be the best me every single day, and I have no regrets.”

Mahomes added that even Brady wanted to be his best version. Inspired by Brady’s stance, Mahomes admitted that he continued to work hard with his teams and continued to be the best version of himself. He felt lucky and blessed to be associated with such an elite organization and continued to move forward with them. Interestingly, a similar question was asked to Tom Brady in the show, and he has a similar stance to Mahomes.

Tom Brady appreciates Patrick Mahomes!

A couple of weeks ago, TB12 appeared on “The Pat McAfee Show” to discuss the conversation associated with the Super Bowl. During the show, Pat pointed out the chatters related to him and Patrick Mahomes regarding who is the greatest of all time. He further brought in Michael Jordan in the discussion. While giving his viewpoint, Tom Brady said, “Yeah, I think there is nothing that Patrick can do in my opinion and takes away from what I tried to accomplish in my career, and there’s nothing that I did can take away from what’s he’s trying to accomplish in his career.”

TB12 elaborated that he has his idols in the NFL, including Steve Young and Joe Montana. But he can never be them. He was only indulged in accomplishing his career goals and being his best version. He added that if anybody could win the Seven Super Bowls, he would respect that player and hug them. This viewpoint of Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady revealed their humble nature.
