The Los Angeles Rams are bringing a surprising twist to their preseason broadcast this weekend. With the New Orleans Saints coming to SoFi Stadium for Saturday’s matchup, the Rams’ revamped booth is all set to get an unexpected new voice for the third quarter. And it’s someone fans may recognize more from the Hollywood world than the football one.

“I’m being told that @BrendaSong will make her color analyst debut tomorrow,” reported Rams insider Stu Jackson on August 21. “The actress will join @JourdanRodrigue, Rob Havenstein, and @JB_Long in the @CBSLosAngeles booth during the third quarter of Rams vs. Saints.”

The stamp of approval soon followed.

“Can confirm. 😏” wrote Rams’ official X account a minute later, resharing Jackson’s post. 

Song’s appearance is part of the revamped Rams preseason broadcast setup. The team had announced earlier this month that J.B Long would handle play-by-play alongside Jourdan Rodrigue and former Rams offensive lineman Rob Havenstein, who had moved from the field to the booth after an 11-year career with Los Angeles. 

CBS Los Angeles is the team’s official local preseason television partner. That’s not all. Head coach Sean McVay will also go live through a “Coach Cam” segment, breaking down plays during the game.

Interestingly, Song knows ball.

During her Mythical Kitchen appearance with Josh Scherer, Song explained that Kobe Bryant inspired her dedication to the Lakers, including watching all 82 games and owning a life-size cutout of the icon. The Suite Life actress impressed with her knowledge of Lakers history after Scherer brought up Vlade Divac. Song instantly connected his 1996 trade to the move that brought Kobe Bryant to Los Angeles.

Scherer’s reaction? He called her a “sicko.”

Though basketball was her first love, she moved away from it when Kobe Bryant retired. It “devastated” her, she told The Hollywood Reporter, which brought her to football.

“[Macaulay Culkin] and I started dating — people don’t realize what a big sports fan he is. I walked in one morning, and was like ‘What’s football?’ It was a Rams and Seahawks game, and then it was over for me.

Song has also proved herself as one of America’s more football-savvy celebrities. Back in March last year, Song made another appearance on the Mythical Kitchen podcast. That’s when the wound was still fresh for Song, being a hardcore Los Angeles Rams fan. She did not hesitate to call out the team for their lack of run defense.

“Let me tell you, (Rams defensive coordinator) Chris Shula, I like you a lot,” she said. I like what you’ve done with our front four. But my issue is: We don’t have a run-stopper. We don’t use our middle linebackers in the middle. We can’t stop the run. That’s our biggest problem besides our O-line.”

“Not being an offensive lineman, so I could have protected Matt Stafford from that Jalen Carter sack,” she joked.

Her football ambitions go even further. During an April appearance on the Not Gonna Lie podcast, Song had revealed, “My goal is to be an assistant defensive coordinator.”

Her relationship with the Rams has also grown beyond simply watching them. The franchise brought her in for its 2025 schedule release, where she helped unveil the team’s opponents and was introduced as an “aspiring defensive coordinator.”

Plus, she has also been a regular presence at SoFi Stadium. She and her fiance Macaulay Culkin, attended Rams games during the 2025 season, and the team named her an honorary Rampede Captain for a November home game.

Her familiarity with the roster made it clear that Song had been following the team for a while. She even highlighted how Saquon Barkley and other premier running backs had a field day against LA’s run defense in 2024.

Having moved to Los Angeles when she was six, Song has been a Rams superfan throughout. She and the Rams teamed up to launch the 2025 schedule. Now, it’s time to see how Song charges up the fans as Los Angeles hits the gridiron.
