The Taylor Swift effect has been a positive one for the Chiefs, as well as the NFL. Since she arrived at the Bears’ game in late September, the demand for tickets for Chiefs’ games has gone 3x higher. Travis Kelce has seen a record jump in his jersey sales, and Swifties have flooded the team’s social media handles.

Pundits and players have often expressed their views on the singer’s association with the sport. But what does Chiefs’ HC, Andy Reid, think of her effect on his team? Following the team’s Patriots win, the NFL community got a glimpse of his views. In a season where the Chiefs have failed to touch their destined height, Reid isn’t disappointed with how Kelce’s ‘Love Story’ has turned out to be.

HC Reid is happy for Travis Kelce and Swift

The HC was expressing his opinion on the team’s victory vs Patriots. But while talking to the media after the Patriots game, one reporter asked Reid about the Taylor effect on the Chiefs. Rather than dragging it around, the HC had a small, to-the-point answer to it.

Yeah listen, I’m a big fan. So I’m glad she was here and I hope she enjoyed it. She’s got a great guy she’s, you know, dating right now. So I’m happy for both of them“, Reid explained his opinion on the matter, and cleared his stance.

Amid a season where the Chiefs haven’t touched the height they would have wanted to, Swift-Kelce’s love story remains a somewhat positive factor for both the Chiefs and the NFL. The singer is even referred to as a lucky charm for the team; but how true is it?

Does the Swift charm works for the Chiefs?

Well, it seems so! Since her appearance at the Chiefs vs Bears game on September 25, the defending champions have recorded a 150% increase in their ticket sales. Travis Kelce’s no. 87 jersey has become one of the highest sold in the NFL’s official merch store. The league itself, too, has recorded a viewership increase in the broadcasts thanks to Swift’s presence.

But there have been heartbreaks as well. While she was initially thought to be a lucky charm for the team, the Chiefs lost two consecutive games in her presence. They lost their NFC lead as well, and Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce haven’t had the season they would have wanted to. So her impact in the larger context is yet to be solidified.

But amid everything, Kelce and Swift are enjoying each other’s support. And whether the singing sensation is a lucky charm for the team or not, the couple has the approval of a ‘happy’ Andy Reid.
