Bad times don’t seem to end for the Steelers. Instead, it keeps getting worse. During their tough time in the league, one name the team could be looking up to is TJ Watt. But where is the linebacker himself looking at? Concussion protocol is the answer. And that’s a consecutive second blow to the side.

The Gold and Yellows are on a 3-game-losing streak, 2 of which came against the two worst sides in the league. But before they could get over the embarrassment happening on the field, superstar TJ Watt’s protocol inclusion has given them something much more to worry about.

It’s a surprise in itself that Watt was able to continue the play last week. The linebacker took a knee in his face from Patriots‘ RB Ezekiel Elliott during the very first play. Although he came off immediately for several plays, Watt took to the field again in the same quarter. But on Friday morning, it became clear that the problem was still persistent. And NFL insider Ian Rapport announced that the linebacker was lining up for the concussion protocol.

The news came half a day after outside linebacker Alex Highsmith faced the same route after the Patriots’ loss. On paper, the pass-rusher has just about enough time to clear his protocol before their next game, but wouldn’t things become easier if that was so simple? The time is messing around with the team, so to add to his concussion, Highsmith also injured his neck during the second quarter of the game. A recovery time for which is uncertain, unlike the concussion protocol.

And all the injuries are just one side of the story. The other side is killing the Steelers and leaving a much worse effect on them in the long run. Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick had a say about it.

Fitzpatrick calls for a mentality change at the Steelers

Injuries have been synonymous with the franchise in recent times. Their week 13 loss against the Cardinals saw a newly recovered Fitzpatrick go back due to a broken arm. He left the game and came back against the Patriots just to see his side lose again. The cornerback later called out the lack of work ethic and mentality in the team.
