Nine years inside a team’s war room will do a lot to a man. It sharpens the senses, teaches you how to read between the lines, and if you’re James Gladstone, maybe even helps read minds. Don’t believe us? Wait till you find out this. Jacksonville Jaguars’ rookie GM knows his former team, the Los Angeles Rams, like the back of his hand. It seems Gladstone brought more than just his suitcase to Duval, he brought intel. The kind that lives in gut instinct, refined over almost a decade alongside Les Snead and Sean McVay.
Fast forward to draft night, Round 2. The Rams have already made impressive roster moves, and now they are on the clock at 46. As the tension thickens in Green Bay, somewhere in the Jaguars’ draft room, the Athletic’s analyst Mike Silver casually tossed a challenge to Gladstone. “Who do you think your old team’s taking?” Gladstone leaned in, squinted his eyes, and dropped the name.
Moments later, there’s an official NFL announcement on the speaker. The Rams have picked Terrence Ferguson, tight end, Oregon. Spot on, that is exactly what Gladstone guessed, his exact words were “Terrance Ferguson, tight end, Oregon.” Woah, draft niks pace up, a new competitor is back in the game. But in a league where secrecy is sacred, and even draft night decisions are closely guarded, this moment raises concerns in the front office.

NFL insider, Toriono KB, took to X just minutes after the pick, stating “My Goat don’t play fair man lmao“, subtly hinting that the Rams might have underestimated how well Gladstone knows their DNA. This was indeed a chilling reminder to the Rams. This Jacksonville Jaguars GM knows their playbook psychologically. But Gladstone’s guess was not out of thin air. The Rams needed an athletic, pass-catching tight end, chasing names like Dalton Kincaid and Brock Bowers in previous drafts. And Ferguson fit the mold too perfectly. Gladstone didn’t need access to the Rams’ board. He was on the board for nearly a decade.
Amid all the ongoing draft room chaos, one thing’s clear. James Gladstone may be wearing teal now, but the horns are still fresh in his blood. Now, could this fresh knowledge hurt the Rams when they face the Jaguars on the field?
Is Terrance Ferguson the weapon the Rams needed?
When the Los Angeles Rams stepped up to the podium in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, they did it with intent. Passing on a first-round selection, they waited patiently before pulling the trigger on Oregon tight end Terrance Ferguson at No. 46 overall, and they may bring immense support to Sean McVay’s offense.

Ferguson led all tight ends in his class with 9.0 yards after the catch per reception on screen plays, as per PFF’s Jordan Plocher.
The Rams struggled to get meaningful production from their tight ends in 2024. But with Ferguson in the mix, Sean McVay finally gets a true pass-catching threat who can stretch the field. On the draft night, when Les Snead and Sean McVay selected Ferguson, the young lad didn’t hold back. “I can’t believe it,” Ferguson said. “I appreciate you so much, Coach. You’re going to get the best (expletive) tight end in the draft right now, so I appreciate you.” McVay was just as fired up, calling the new addition “We are jacked up and you’re going to be a great player for us and can’t wait to get going with you.” Well, Rams seem excited to get to work with their new pick this draft season.
With Veteran QB Matthew Stafford still at the helm, Ferguson’s arrival gives the Rams a fresh weapon to deploy, especially in red zone and third-down situations where they have struggled. If he lives up to his promise, Ferguson could very well emerge as one of the top rookies to watch this season.
