But to make it more interesting and celebratory, the Jags quarterback clinched the fourth win of the season on his 26th birthday. The wishes from his fans were tangible, and so were those from his teammates. One of them was the Jags’ nickelback, Jourdan Lewis.
“Tell my QB happy birthday,” Lewis wished Lawrence via his ‘X’ handle right after winning the game.

Lawrence had a perfect Monday. The 26-year-old quarterback indeed stumbled with a fumble at the goal line in the first quarter. But he didn’t let it derail his performance or cost his team the game. The Jaguars were trailing 14-0 early in the game and 14-7 at halftime. But they tied the game in the third quarter. The turning point?

Chiefs’ quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, threw an interception in the Jags’ linebacker, Devin Lloyd’s direction, who returned 99 yards for a touchdown. The Jags were now 21-14. The Chiefs still managed to reclaim the lead in the fourth quarter. We’re talking about 28-24.
But then Lawrence led a game-winning 60-yard drive, including a 33-yard pass to WR Brian Thomas Jr. that put the team in scoring position. A few plays and a defensive pass interference later, the Jaguars were perched at the Chiefs’ 1-yard line.
Lawrence took the snap, stumbled, regained his footing, looked to throw, but spotted a lane and scrambled in for the game-winning touchdown with just 23 seconds remaining. “Goofy,” first year, head coach, Liam Coen said.
The quarterback completed 18-of-25 passes for 221 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. In the process, he also rushed for 54 yards on 10 carries while recording a couple of rushing scores. Having said that, Trevor Lawrence recorded his fourth win of the season on his 26th birthday.
Trevor Lawrence panicked on his birthday
The Jags selected Trevor Lawrence with the first overall pick back in the 2021 NFL draft. Since then, the quarterback has learned different offenses. Liam Coen’s offense has happened to be his third offense under the third head coach.
So when the Jags put up a strong outing and walked out of the EverBank Stadium with a 31-28 win, you can bet it was a significant win for the fifth-year quarterback. After all, Lawrence had a rough start to the season while learning a new offense. Lawrence led the Jaguars to overcome a 14-0 deficit and is now on the verge of making his team a legitimate contender in the AFC.

“It’s a goofy finish, but what a tough moment for him to be able to say he wasn’t going to lose, and that’s kind of really what it comes down to,” Coen said of Lawrence. “He wasn’t going to lose and he made an unbelievable individual effort that hopefully can continue to springboard us.”

Lawrence put up a strong performance through the air as well as on the ground, racking up three total scores. However, his game-winning touchdown with just 23 seconds remaining in the game had the quarterback panicked.
“I mean, I just panicked, honestly,” Lawrence said. “I was trying to get up to get the ball out of my hands. We didn’t have any timeouts left so I was really going to just stand up and launch it out the back of the end zone.” But the signal-caller finished the game with a run, leading the rushing attack with 54 yards. The Jaguars are now sitting with 4-1. Next up? They’ll host the 3-2 Seattle Seahawks.
