“The same old New York Jets.” We had to say it. After all, Aaron Glenn’s squad is sitting at 0-5, the only winless team left in the 2025 season, as they’re heading toward another losing season. And it’s already shaping up as one of the worst starts in franchise history. The last time the Jets were the lone team without a win after five games?

That was back in 2020. To make matters even tougher, Glenn has now gone down in the books as the first Jets head coach to kick off his tenure with an ugly 0-5. But fast forward to now, and heading into Week 6 against the Denver Broncos, Glenn seems to have a clear sense of what he needs to fix and what pitfalls to avoid.
“It’s about us. We know we have a good opponent we’re going against but there’s some things internally we have to fix when it comes to ball protection, penalties, defense, offense, making sure we score,” the first-year head coach said. “I love getting three, I do, but I want seven. When it comes to defense, we want to force them to get three. Hopefully they don’t get down there but we’re not trying to give up seven. All those things, we’re digging hard into them to make sure we do the right things to get that done. It’s time for us to get those things done. This week was a really good week.”

It’s the script we’ve been following since the start of the season. The Jets are struggling both in scoring touchdowns and in preventing their opponents from doing the same. Since Week 1 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Jets failed to score a first-half touchdown.
Aaron Glenn on his message to the team this week:

And their Sunday’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys was the latest blow and the most embarrassing one for Glenn’s squad. The Jets trailed 30-3 at some point in the game before throwing some late touchdowns to avoid an ugly margin. Across five weeks, the Jets have totaled just 12 touchdowns, which is not elite if we’re being real. As for the opponents?
Well, Glenn wants to hold the opponent to just threes, but that’s something he and his defense are struggling with. The Jets are allowing an average of 31.4 points per game, one of the worst starts in team history, and the fourth-worst defense in the league after the first five weeks.
The opponents, on the other hand, are scoring on 53.7 percent of their drives, the third-worst mark in the NFL. To make it trickier, Steve Wilks’ defense has yet to record a turnover. And yes, they’re the only team to go five games without recording a turnover. Long story short: Ahead of the Broncos clash, Aaron Glenn’s team is struggling on both sides of the ball.
What to expect from Aaron Glenn and the Jets in Week 6
“We’re 0-5 and we own that,” Aaron Glenn said earlier this week. “But I do know this: That’s not going to stop us from doing everything we can to win.” The Jets will face the Broncos in Week 6, a team that’s coming after recording one of a record-breaking wins in recent times.
Denver overcame a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter against the Philadelphia Eagles and torched the reigning Super Bowl champs 21-17. The signs are clear: The Jets are yet to taste the first win of the season under a new regime, and the job’s not going to be easy. Which naturally raises a question: What can Glenn and Co. do to avoid an uglier 0-6 record?

For starters, the offense needs some amendments. But let’s address the obvious. The Jets’ defense would like to stop the Broncos’ rushing attack. They have the fourth-best running game in the league and have racked up 118 yards or more in the first five weeks. It was efficient in Week 5 against the Eagles, when they rushed for 130 yards, thanks to J.K. Dobbins (79 rushing yards on 20 carries with one score on the ground).

Second, New York’s pass rush has been a major concern since Week 1. In their season opener, the Jets surely recorded four sacks. But since then? It’s been a rough stretch as the team has generated just three sacks in the last four games. If we zoom in, the struggles are countless. But at the end of the day, the Jets are yearning for the first win, and they need to get better on both sides of the ball.
