He was my little best friend,” this is how Randi describes her Super Bowl-winning son, Patrick Mahomes. While they have often come across as a tightly-knit unit, things could’ve been very different because of Patrick’s lesser-known sibling, someone who liked to keep her relationship with the Chiefs star a secret.

Mia Randall, Patrick’s stepsister, has largely remained discreet about her life and has at times even denied knowing her illustrious brother. Her Instagram, managed by Randi, bursts with snapshots of a young girl embracing life’s adventures, from jet skiing to hitting home runs. However, a startling revelation by Randi in 2021 will surprise you.

Appearing on the Kent Hance podcast in 2o21, she disclosed,“I tell them if she would have been the first born she would have been the last born because, girls, she’s going to give me a run for my money.” This could point to the spirited nature of her daughter. On the podcast, she also revealed details about the nature of Mia’s relationship with his brothers.

She said that she liked to keep her connection to her famous brothers low-key. “She loves her brothers and she looks up to them. She has a picture of Patrick in her locker at school well Patrick and Jackson and Britney and in her locker and she’s like, ‘I just tell people I take pictures with them that I don’t really know them.'”

This indicates how Mia attempted to shield her personal life from the glare of Patrick’s fame and maintain her own identity. Despite this, she was by Patrick’s side when the Chiefs won the Super Bowl in 2020 and 2023.

Randi has stated how special Patrick is in an interview with PEOPLE earlier this year. She said, “I had someone that needed me. And so, for forever, he was my little best friend. We were together 24/7, and I learned with him.” During the same interview, she dived into the dynamic between Patrick and Mia.

Patrick was born in 1995 and Mia in 2011, while in-between Randi had Jackson in 2000. Initially, she was worried that Mia and Patrick may not understand each other due to the obvious 16-year age difference but said all of her children have fostered “special” relationships with one another.

This was highlighted after the Chiefs secured their spot in the 2024 Super Bowl. Randi Mahomes posted a photo of the family celebrating the success on Instagram, where Mia, Jackson, and Brittany were seen posing together. Randi also pointed out how Patrick keeps tabs on her younger sister, who is also an athlete just like her brother.

“Tell me what she scored,” Randi reveals Patrick’s support for Mia

Despite her young age, Mia is already showcasing versatility across multiple sports, including softball, basketball, and volleyball. Further detailing the bond between Mia and Patrick, Randi said, “[Patrick] is always keeping tabs on what Mia’s doing, both him and Brittany [Mahomes]. It’s a fun relationship for them to have, and being that I was so nervous they wouldn’t know each other, I can say now that they know each other.”

“I’ll send him clips of her basketball games, and he’s like, ‘Well, tell me what she scored,’ and then he’ll ask all about it, and I do that with Jackson and him both,” she added. Not only Patrick, but Mia also enjoys a good relationship with Brittany.

Patrick started dating Brittany two weeks after Mia was born. So, she has also seen Mia grow up and been by her side. Describing how she advised Mia to treat Britanny, Randi said, “I always tell Mia, I’m like, ‘Brittany is like your sister, not just your sister-in-law.’ She loves my children as much as I love them.”

Given how Randi has fostered a bond between all of her children, it is hardly surprising that they always have each other’s back.
