San Francisco 49ers‘ Brock Purdy was part of a ‘limited’ practice session on Friday. Following his inclusion in concussion protocol, the quarterback will face a participation restriction. However, what are his chances for the Bengals game on Sunday? Raiders‘ Jimmy Garoppolo on the other hand, had a full practice session after his recovery. Brock Purdy is recovering slowly on his way out of the concussion protocol after head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed the news a day ago. It remains unclear how and when he hit his head and suffered the injury. But there is more important news as the quarterback was allowed to practice for a limited time on Friday. Purdy won’t return for the Bengals’ game. But his quick recovery will be a key factor in the 49ers’ 12 Nov matchup against the in-form Jaguars.
Raiders’ QB Jimmy Garoppolo on the other hand, will start against the Lions on Sunday, as he is mostly recovered from his recent back trouble. He took part in a full practice session with the team ahead of the Detroit Lions game. NFL insider Ian Rapport has shared these weekly injury updates on X (formerly, Twitter).

What this means to either team?
Purdy’s inactivity is a big concern for the 49ers and they might turn to backup QB Sam Darnold for the Bengals game. However, the former Jets man has shown in the past that he is more than capable of taking up the lead role. The 26-year-old has played in 4 games this season, and the team has won every single of them. Interestingly, the 49ers have lost both of the games Darnold didn’t come on. This time though, given the starting role, things can be a little different for Darnold and the 49ers.

Raiders, on the other hand, can be relieved with the Garoppolo update. The quarterback left the Patriots’ game for hospital, on an ambulance. Before going out, Garoppolo registered 14/22 throws for 162 yards and one touchdown. And the numbers ultimately proved to be vital, as the motivated Raiders emerged victorious over the Patriots, signifying Graoppolo’s importance in the team. They will be counting on the quarterback once again as the Raiders face the NFC North topper Lions on Monday, October 30. Known for their physical plays, Garoppolo better watch out against the Lions.
