The Green Bay Packers vs. the Cleveland Browns will have their Week 3 matchup in Huntington Bank Field, Cleveland.

Everything is going as planned. But the one thing neither players nor organizers can control is the weather. According to NFLW, Week 3 could bring the heaviest rainfall of the season so far. A 33% chance of thunderstorms in Cleveland around kickoff. Winds should stay under 10 mph, but conditions could still get tricky.

The Packers enter off a 27-18 win over Washington, while the Browns are trying to rebound from a 41-17 drubbing by Baltimore. If the rain hits, expect both teams to lean heavier on their ground games. Temperatures will hover around 70 degrees at kickoff, with a high of 84 and a low of 65. Humidity sits at 63%, visibility will be clear, and skies partly cloudy—though the looming storms remain the X-factor.

So, when the Browns will host the Packers at Huntington Bank Field on September 21, it will be the lone noon kickoff on Green Bay’s schedule over their first seven games.

Also, it’s the Packers’ first regular-season trip to Cleveland since 2017, when a frigid December matchup set the stage. The final score:

Packers 27 – 21 Browns

But this time, the weather may be warmer, but something else feels familiar—the Browns’ struggling numbers.

Despite the high probability of rain, it appears the game’s outcome may not be significantly different from what analysts are predicting. Green Bay is expected to be a dominant force in Week 3.

While abrupt weather conditions can impact gameplay, Packers quarterback Jordan Love seems to thrive in the rain.

Love’s on-field performance and statistics are notably higher on rainy days compared to non-raining ones. So, Kevin Stefanski will have to have some work done on both sides of the ball, if he wants his team to edge out in front.

Joe Flacco to continue under center

The Cleveland Browns sit at 0-2 with pressure mounting as they prepare to host the 2-0 Packers in Week 3, who look like strong contenders so far.

Veteran quarterback Joe Flacco, who has started the first two games, is under growing scrutiny from a restless fan base eager to see rookie Dillon Gabriel.

Gabriel gave them a glimpse late in the Ravens blowout, completing all three of his passes for 20 yards. Including an 8-yard touchdown to Dylan Sampson.

But despite the buzz, Kevin Stefanski isn’t budging. As The Athletic noted, Stefanski said it’s too soon to consider a change, particularly with what lies ahead on the schedule.

On Monday, Stefanski reaffirmed his commitment to Flacco.

“I think every team hopes to continue to play better throughout the year, and you play better each month, so we get an opportunity this week as a team and certainly as an offense to play better than we did the previous week.”

That optimism will be tested quickly. Flacco’s Week 2 line—25 of 45 with only five completions over 10 yards—underscored the Browns’ stagnant attack. With one of the league’s toughest defenses up next, Cleveland needs answers fast. For now, though, Flacco stays QB1.
