If there was one game in the season where the Chiefs wouldn’t start as blind favorites, it was the Eagles one. The reigning Super Bowl runners-up would always be the toughest challenge for the defending champs, and Patrick Mahomes sure looks to have taken notes well.

After Wednesday’s practice session, the quarterback spoke to the media. He admired the Eagles’ defensive line and detailed their approach. He also concluded that it would not be an easy match-up for the Chiefs.

Mahomes was asked about the Eagles’ recent defensive coordinator change. In reply, he was all praise for the team. “Yeah, I mean they’re really good. I mean at the end of the day that’s the main thing, they have a lot of the same players and they’ve added some more Talent. D Lines, especially… One of the best D lines I think I’ve ever seen,” the QB said, acknowledging the quality of the Eagles’ defense.

“Just waves of guys that can come in and play, mixture of veterans and young guys. The DBs, two great DBs at cornerback position. Adding Bayard and a blanket ship at the safety position, and then linebackers guys that have played and been in the league for a little bit now,” Mahomes explained why the defense was functioning so well.

“So they have a good defense in general, I mean obviously a great team but a good defense in general at all aspects. And so for us would be a great challenge,” the QB concluded, insisting it would not be an easy match for them.

How are the preparations on the home side?

Probably for the first time in the season, the Chiefs are facing a team with a better record. The Chiefs are 7-2 compared to Eagles’ 8-1. But the loss the Chiefs endured against the Broncos might be concerning them. The highly motivated Broncos held the defending champions in single digit score, a rarest of the rarest occasions. The teams with strong defensive units usually don’t favor the Chiefs. And the Eagles are one of them. But there is good news too.

The team starts with a better offensive record. And that’s of course, because of quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce. They have combined for 4TDs and 597 yards for 57 carries, a better output than their counterparts. The Chiefs seem to be more effective on the WR side as well, as Rashee Rice, their best WR in the season, has 32 for 378 yards with 4 TDs; on the opposite side, DeVonta Smith has 42 for 533 to reach the same number of TDs.

With an unstoppable offense facing off against an immovable defense, the Mini Bowl promises to be a feast for the eyes. Added to the Papa Swift and Mama Kelce saga, it will be even more interesting to see how the game unfolds. Keep an eye on the broadcast as last season’s Super Bowl finalists face off against each other on Monday, November 21, at Arrowhead in Kansas City.

My story of becoming an NFL writer is as interesting as my story of becoming an MMA practitioner. Coming from such a sport where athletes look to knock the brain cells off each other for a living, I liked the aggression that American Football had to offer. Before I even realized it, I religiously started following American football, picking up the most challenging in-depth write-ups.
