Xavier Worthy‘s lofty aspirations of becoming the next Tyreek Hill in Patrick Mahomes‘ explosive offense were on full display from the jump. At the STM Draft Fest, Worthy was introduced by the iconic voice of the Chiefs, Mitch Holthus, who asked him about his fit in KC’s offense. Without missing a beat, Worthy responded, “I’ve seen a lot of it, Tyreek Hill was here, and with Patrick Mahomes being the great QB he is, I obviously want to play for him.”

Those words immediately struck a chord with the Chiefs Kingdom, sparking visions of Worthy torching defenses just like the “Cheetah” once did. Worthy’s game-breaking speed is unquestionable – he obliterated the NFL Combine record with a jaw-dropping 4.21 40-yard dash.

But as he showcased at Texas, racking up 2,755 receiving yards and 26 TDs over three seasons, he’s far more than a one-trick pony. As per analysts, he can catch the ball in space and create easy yardage during gameplays.

As Worthy dons the red and gold, the excitement is palpable. After all, he manifested this dream himself. “I’ve been calling it since the beginning of the year,” he proclaimed after getting drafted. “I’m going to the Chiefs…I’m excited to play with Pat.”

His rare talents were evident from the start. Back in 2021, Texas teammate Keondre Coburn raved, “He compared Worthy to one of the fastest players in the NFL, Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill.” Now in Kansas City, the stage is set for Worthy to echo – and perhaps surpass – the heroics of his idol Hill. Paired with the wizardry of Patrick Mahomes in an offense tailored for game-breakers, the sky is the limit.

As Matt Harmon’s Reception Perception data showed, “I’d categorize Worthy as a solid separator overall…He displays far more ‘real receiver’ game than some of the failed speed merchants of days gone by.” Harmon added, “It’s easy to imagine him as a devastating option in a speed slot role winning on post routes.”

As Chiefs Kingdom eagerly awaits his debut, one thing is certain – with insatiable drive and skill to match, Xavier Worthy is poised to etch his name among the NFL’s elite.
