Hard Knocks has been snooping around NFL training camps since way back in 2001. Ravens were the first, and since then, it’s been everything from locker room speeches to guys getting cut mid-practice. Cowboys, Jets, you name it. It’s kind of like reality TV but with shoulder pads and depth charts. And every year, fans show up for the drama—even if they already know who’s making the roster.

Last year, it was all about the Bears. Cameras in their faces, mics catching every “let’s go, baby!” from Caleb Williams—and somehow it still didn’t feel forced. That’s the magic of it: you get the real stuff. The tension, the jokes, the grind. Season after season, it gets better. And now? Well, Josh Allen just turned 29 on Wednesday, and we can say that Roger Goodell and Co. have a present for the MVP quarterback.

On Wednesday, the NFL Commissioner announced that the Buffalo Bills will participate in Hard Knocks during training camp. Loud and clear. Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network shared the news on his Instagram account. “NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announces some fun ones — The #Bills will participate in Hard Knocks during training camp,” Rapoport reported.

The Bills‘ training camp will be held at St. John Fisher University in Pittsford, New York. Yup, once again. That said, the 2025 preseason preparations mark the 25th time the Bills have chosen this location for their training camp. And to make it thrilling for the Bills Mafia, the NFL has announced that the team will feature in HBO’s Hard Knocks during their training camp. The streaming service has greenlit an August 5 premiere date.

The NFL didn’t let playoff teams from the past couple of seasons be on Hard Knocks under the old rules. However, considering last season’s MVP and his team are still hunting their first Lombardi, it’ll be exciting to see their journey ahead of the 2025 campaign.

Now, if you peek at the current rulebook, a team can only avoid participating in the documentary series if they’ve a first-year head coach, have appeared on the show in the last eight seasons, and are scheduled to participate during the in-season series in the next couple of years. Since the Bills are not part of any of this, Buffalo’s training camp has certainly become a whole lot interesting for the Bills’ Mafia, ahead of the 2025 campaign’s challenges.

From head coach Sean McDermott to Josh Allen and other Bills players will appear in the series. If that wasn’t enough, four other teams will also feature in the Hard Knocks documentary series—but not during their training camps.

What’s your perspective on:

Will Josh Allen's Hard Knocks spotlight boost the Bills, or add pressure to perform this season?

Besides Josh Allen and Co., the NFC East to feature in Hard Knocks

Ever since the inception of Hard Knocks back in 2001, the teams basically feature in the docu series during their summer training camps ahead of the regular season. However, starting from the 2021 season, Hard Knocks now also features an additional team throughout the NFL regular season. And starting from 2024, it also dedicates a season to an NFL team throughout the offseason.

Over the past few years, teams like the Indianapolis Colts, the Arizona Cardinals, and the Miami Dolphins have already appeared in HBO’s series. Last season? It was the whole AFC North division, featuring the Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, and Pittsburgh Steelers. And now? Well, it will be for the second time that HBO will dedicate Hard Knocks to an entire NFL division—the NFC East.

The Dallas Cowboys, Washington Commanders, the New York Giants, and the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, will be part of the in-season Hard Knocks docu series that will debut on the streaming service in December this year. The Cowboys’ Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, the Giants’ Russell Wilson and Malik Nabers, Jayden Daniels and Terry McLaurin of the Commanders, and Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley of the Eagles are some of the star players to appear in the show.

“We are thrilled to provide ‘Hard Knocks’ fans a summer with the Bills and winter with the Cowboys, Giants, Commanders and Eagles in the first year of our exciting new deal with NFL Films,” Nancy Abraham and Lisa Heller (the co-executive vice presidents of HBO Documentary and Family Programming) said. “There will be no shortage of star power.”
