The Pittsburgh Steelers definitely got the better of the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, and Aaron Rodgers surely enjoyed the win. But while the 41-year-old quarterback was happy about securing his fourth victory of the season, sure. He wasn’t exactly thrilled with the state of the field at Acrisure Stadium.

Right after leaving the turf, Rodgers didn’t hold back. “It got really beat up,” the QB said, via the team website. “By the time the third quarter rolled around, that thing was really beat up. So I feel bad about what happened to Miles (Killebrew). I’m not sure if there was any carry there.

“I know the field gets a lot of play. I don’t know why anybody wouldn’t wear seven studs. You know, cleats, some guys are opposed to that, is one of where mold is, but it reminds me a little bit of the field in Green Bay in the early years, but not until like November, early December, where it gets kind of torn up a little bit.”

Rodgers’ complaint regarding the field conditions soon came to light. Fast forward, and ESPN’s Brooke Pryor reported that the re-sodding process is already underway at Acrisure Stadium. And as things stand, the decision seems understandable. During the broadcast, CBS sideline reporter Evan Washburn noted that the ground staff was supposed to replace the sod after the game.

On top of that, as Rodgers pointed out, it wasn’t even a winter game. We’re talking mid-October. Even without rain, snow, or the usual rough weather the city sees later in the season, Acrisure Stadium’s field was far from its best on Sunday. To make it worse, the Steelers’ safety Miles Killebrew also went down with a knee injury.

While it’s unclear whether it was because of the field condition or not, one thing is clear: The head coach, Mike Tomlin, admitted that “He’s (Killebrew) got a significant knee injury.” That said, the Steelers still have six more home regular-season games this year. And yes, a playoff game at Acrisure Stadium is likely too. So yeah, Rodgers’ complaints about the field conditions were tangible, and the team’s decision to re-sod the turf makes total sense.

Aaron Rodgers addressed the Steelers’ first AFC North win of the season

Aaron Rodgers spent 18 seasons in the NFC North with the Green Bay Packers. Sunday’s game against the Browns was his first AFC North matchup and eventually the first AFC North win. The 41-year-old quarterback completed 21 of 30 passes for 235 yards and two touchdowns in a 23-9 win over Cleveland while also improving the Steelers’ track record to 4-1.

After the game, Rodgers discussed his first AFC North win with CBS Sports sideline reporter Washburn. “I’ve been in the North for a long time, so I know what kind of football gets played in both the AFC North and NFC North,” Rodgers said.

“This felt like it. A little overcast, windy, field’s kind of torn up a little bit. But there’s great rivalries in this North, just like in the other one, and I’m happy to be a part of it.” During their Week 5 bye, Rodgers and Pittsburgh watched the rest of the AFC North teams lose their respective games.

The Steelers, meanwhile, carried the momentum from their Week 4 win over the Minnesota Vikings into Week 6. That made Sunday’s victory over the Browns especially meaningful for Aaron Rodgers. At 41, he helped maintain Pittsburgh’s impressive home dominance. The QB brought the Steelers’ regular-season record against Cleveland in Pittsburgh to 22-1 since 2003.
