Super Bowl LVIII: President Joe Biden Reminisces Playing Football With Deceased Son

The Super Bowl is a special occasion for every American. And the President of the country is no different. So, before the Super Bowl LVIII kicks off, President Joe Biden shared a message for all Americans. Along with a heart-touching note, for his departed son Beau Biden.

President Biden has often shared his love for sports, especially his love for football. And like any other football fan, he has his Super Bowl traditions too. And in this throwback memory, President Biden urges Americans to make the most of this exceptional day.

President Joe Biden goes back to 1987!

The Super Bowl invokes memories of great games of yesteryears. Hence, the President shared a photo on X (previously Twitter) from 1987. In the photo, the President can be seen enjoying a game of catch with his sons, Beau and Hunter.

His eldest son Beau passed away in 2015, after battling brain cancer for two years. Beau was one of the closest family members of the commander-in-chief Biden. He must surely be missing him this Super Bowl.

“I hope you can take part in the age-old American traditions of eating great food, gathering with great friends, and watching a great game”, wrote the President on X. However, this is not the only time that President Biden has written something for his departed son Beau.

A life worth remembering

Born in 1969, Beau lost his mother Neilia, in a car crash when he was only 4. He, however, persevered and excelled at his studies. Eventually becoming a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office. In 2003 he joined the Delaware Army National Guard. Beau was deployed in Iraq from 2008 to late 2009.

After his untimely passing, the former VP Biden wrote a memoir ‘Promise me, Dad’. This memoir was based on the conversations the President had with his son, during his final days. Both father and son, along with the entire family have been ardent supporters of the Philadelphia Eagles.

However, now as the President keeps his son’s memory alive, he would want Americans to have a wonderful Super Bowl day.
