Kansas City Chiefs’ very own Drue Tranquill just put pen to paper on a shiny new three-year deal with the squad. He dropped the news with a bit of a tease, suggesting he’s got some unfinished business to attend to at Arrowhead Stadium.

Tranquill, who’s 28, really made his mark last season, kind of flying under the radar but playing a crucial role in the Chiefs’ epic Super Bowl LVIII win. He was there, game after game, during the entire postseason ride that culminated in hoisting the Vince Lombardi Trophy. Tranquill’s first season with the Chiefs was nothing short of remarkable, hitting the field in all 16 regular-season games. And guess what? Travis even gave him a shoutout on the latest “New Heights” podcast episode.

He also brought up Tranquill’s versatility, “I think the guy can fucking do everything. Special teamer if you need him. He’s just all around ballplayer man, I’m sure Coach Reid if he’d needed him on offense at some point we could just f**king toss them. He could fu**king do that. Tranquill has set the benchmark for the next 3 years

Tranquill, who’s been in the game for six years, capped off the season with a Super Bowl LVIII win. Now at 29 and freshly signed to a three-year, $19 million deal to stay with the Chiefs, he’s even more driven. “I feel more hungry to go win a Super Bowl now than I did six months ago.”

After a stint with the Los Angeles Chargers, Tranquill joined the Chiefs last season. He played in 16 games, made eight starts, and racked up 78 tackles, 4 1/2 sacks, two forced fumbles, and got in seven QB hits. When Nick Bolton was sidelined with injuries, Tranquill stepped up as the starting middle linebacker, only to return to a backup role upon Bolton’s comeback. But DC Steve Spagnulo and LB coach Brendan Daly made sure he still felt integral to the team’s success. “They do a great job of making all the guys feel like they’re part of something bigger than themselves,” Tranquill noted.

One of his standout moments was the Chiefs’ victory parade, an experience he described as unparalleled. “I’ve never experienced anything like that in my life,” he recalled with a smile. Yet, he’s eager for more and hopes to relive those moments in the years to come with the Chiefs.
