Former QB for the New England Patriots Cam Newton had previously claimed that Brock Purdy is a ‘game manager’. Though after his heroics in the NFC Championship game, he shifted goalposts slightly. However, legendary sports columnist Skip Bayless is now claiming, that Patrick Mahomes is the game manager.

Though the label is slightly ambiguous, since Newton’s comments regarding Purdy, it has taken a negative connotation. Then why would Bayless put the Kansas City Chiefs’ QB Mahomes in that category?

“To be labeled a game changer, Brock Purdy has to be the best player on the offensive side of the ball. And that’s not the case”, said Newton, differentiating between a game changer and a game manager. However, people did not agree with that particular labeling for Purdy.

Now, the 72-year-old Bayless is claiming the opposite before the Super Bowl showdown. “Why Mahomes is the game manager, not Purdy.”, wrote Bayless on X (previously Twitter). Willing to explain further on his podcast ‘Undisputed’.

However, within just a few days, both QBs will try to shed their names away from this label. With Super Bowl LVIII scheduled for 11th February, both QBs will take on each other and determine the better one.

Even though the 28-year-old Mahomes already has 2 Super Bowls to his name, he is in the fight of his life. This Chiefs squad is considerably weaker than the ones previously, despite that Mahomes has carried the team to yet another Super Bowl. Their fourth in the last 5 years!

On the other hand, ‘Mr. Irrelevant’ of the 2022 NFL Draft has proven all the doubters wrong up to this point. But a Super Bowl ring at the age of 24 in his sophomore season will be a cherry on the top. He’ll forever be remembered within the San Francisco 49ers’ halls as the QB to bring the Lombardi Trophy after a gap of 20 years.
