Patrick Mahomes recently caused quite a stir with his appearance on WWE Raw when the show landed in Kansas City, Missouri, the home of the Chiefs. This is not the first time the Chiefs have made headlines in the WWE world. After all, the pro wrestling giant gifted the team custom-made belts after their Super Bowl victory over the Eagles. However, the Patrick Mahomes-Braun Strowman showdown during Monday Night Raw had both NFL and WWE fans in a total frenzy.

It all began when Braun Strowman appeared on WWE Raw after nearly a year out of the ring and then confronted the 5-time Pro Bowler. The face-off caught the eye of sports lovers on the Pat McAfee show. McAfee strongly supported the Chiefs’ star quarterback and declared, “Well, you’re not gonna punk Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City.” But what made the 6’8″ 385 lb ‘The Monster Among Men’ challenge Patrick Mahomes?

The 3-time Super Bowl Champion appeared on Monday Night Raw to film a segment with social media influencer Logan Paul and Heavyweight Champion Damien Priest. All hell broke loose when Logan Paul entered the ring and claimed that Jay Uso could not defeat Damien Priest to become the World Heavyweight Champion. When Uso disagreed, he was attacked by Judgment Day members Finn Balor and JD McDonagh. It was during this exchange that Logan Paul came to Patrick Mahomes’ side.

The star quarterback gave all his Super Bowl rings to Paul, who then tried to knock out Uso but ended up hitting McDonagh instead. Enter ‘The Monster Among Men’. Amidst chasing Logan Paul away, Braun Strowman turned and challenged Patrick Mahomes, who did not waver under the scorching stare of the former strongman. Along with the 2-time NFL MVP were his offensive linemen Trey Smith and Creed Humphrey.

The Chiefs’ offensive lineman promptly backed their quarterback against a hulking Braun Strowman. The WWE Universal Champion was then dragged away by Damien Priest. While appearing on the Pat McAfee show, Connor Campbell argued against Patrick Mahomes’ actions during WWE Raw. Pat McAfee, however, wasted no time in defending Patrick Mahomes.

While disagreeing with Mahomes, Connor said, “You saw what he did to Braun Strowman… instead of saying, ‘Oh hey man look that that was for you guys’, he stands up and he grills Braun Strowman, the monster.” Further dissing the 28-year-old quarterback for partnering with Logan Paul, Campbell added, “You’re also not gonna tie your anchor to Logan Paul, the villain that he is, the Batman who’s partnering with The Judgment Day.”

Pat McAfee had a different take on the situation. The professional wrestling commentator and former football punter said, “No, he’s just standing up in his city. This is his city. Trey Smith and Creed Humphrey are saying, ‘Excuse me, okay Braun’.” Trey and Creed are not the only linemen highlighting a wrestling show. Jason Kelce and Lane Johnson tore it up in the ring during their WrestleMania debuts, when they helped legendary Rey Mysterio win.

While defending Patrick Mahomes, another host on the show added, “And then Uso’s kinda pulling him back because he knows you know, ‘Hey look, you don’t wanna mess with this guy in his city’.” That sounds fair because Patrick Mahomes is a household name in Kansas City. One has to give props to the Kansas City quarterback for maintaining his composure while confronted with a mountain of a man.
