What better accolade than a Pro Bowl QB vouching for you in front of one of the most successful teams in the league? Odell Beckham Jr. possesses it. The Ravens WR is a player that the franchise takes great pride in, however, the race to secure him is getting more intense by the day. He was signed by the Ravens during the 2023 season so that they could ‘get a touchdown’, as QB Lamar Jackson puts it. Thus far, Beckham Jr. has boasted an impressive record during his one season with the Ravens. As his $18 million, one-year contract is due this off-season, Robert Griffin III has a piece of expert advice for the Chiefs: Hire him!

The @chiefs SHOULD SIGN Odell Beckham Jr.,” Griffin III asserted in his tweet. “Last year he proved he is STILL DYNAMIC after being 8th in the NFL averaging 16.1 yards per catch,” Griffin mentioned in his tweet. The @Chiefs struggled with drops last year, but @obj had the lowest drop rate of his career with 1 drop on 64 targets (1.6%). Chief him,” were his ultimate words.

Along with the lowest drop rate, Odell Beckham Jr. also recorded 565 yards, for which he tied 75th, and averaged for 16.1, for which he tied at the 30th position in the league. Despite such impressive stats, Beckham Jr. is currently a free agent, one hot-targeted one for that matter. However, per Baltimore Ravens.com, the Ravens are already on tight cap space, having just over $7.3 million available. A number that should climb to around $8.8 million with the league’s salary cap projected to be around $245 million for the 2024 season. Hence, the only feasible way for Odell Beckham Jr. and the Ravens to shake hands again would be Beckham’s contract restructuring. Moreover, Beckham Jr’s hefty contract prices are not the only thing holding teams back from hiring a receiver of his caliber.

Injury holding Odell Brackham Jr back?

Beckham Jr. came off a costly knee injury in the 2023 season. This injury is the first thing that analysts have pointed out as a putting-off factor for prospective teams. Next is his age, as Trace Girouard from New Orleans Saints by Chat Sports believes. While experience is something each franchise values, the league is focusing more on the young and energetic talents currently. Hence, per Girouard, potential teams like the Saints would refrain from signing Beckham Jr.
