The Apple TV+ docuseries, “The Dynasty: New England Patriots”, took a dive into the wild world of professional football. It was none other than the former Patriots tight end, Aaron Hernandez, who added a dash of drama on the field.

Sharing the same timeline as Hernandez, Tom Brady was also not spared from his trash. The docuseries takes the viewers on a ride to the past when Brady had taken a stand for Hernandez’s disrespectful act towards the then Patriots HC Bill Belichick.

The Patriots players who made an appearance in the docuseries highlighted the dark past of the program from the Spygate scandal and the impact of Belichick on the team along with a rundown of Brady’s life. An instance shared by former Patriots wide receiver, Brandon Llyod, revealed an event from old times.

This instance highlighted the layers of Hernandez’s personality and his casual behavior, as the player remembered, “I remember one particular time, we’re out there doing a walk-through with Tom. Aaron’s out there in flip-flops going through the drills, laughing, flipping the ball around, calling Bill Belichick “Daddy””.

Lloyd vividly recalls a moment when Brady could not retain his calm and reached a breaking point uttering, Tom’s like, “Man, get the f*ck outta here.” You know, like, “What the fuck are you doing? Get the f*ck off the field.” This response exposed the Patriot’s quarterback to Hernandez’s trash as the tight end called out Brady, “That got a rise out of Aaron. He was MF-ing. “Motherf*cker,” you know, stormed off the field.”

However, as Lloyd enlightened, even though Brady tried to preserve the respect towards Belichick, the coach chose to remain unbothered by Hernandez’s action.

Talking about Hernandez’s time with the Patriots before he passed away in 2017 in prison serving as a suspect for murder charges. What followed was exploring the strained relationship between Brady and former HC Belichick. Charges were brought against the coach for allowing Hernandez to enjoy certain freedoms within the Patriots’ facility.

The docuseries further hinted at the challenging conditions that Belichick had set for the players, including Brady. Talking about his decision to part ways with the Patriots, the NFL GOAT brought reference to the coach. He said, “Me and Coach Belichick, we did what we loved and competed for 20 years together. But I wasn’t going to sign another contract [in New England] even if I wanted to play until [I was] 50. Based on how things had gone, I wasn’t going to sign up for more of it.” This stance sheds light on why the fallout from Brady’s outburst did not ruffle the feathers of the stoic head coach.

Hence, the docuseries gives the viewers a walk through the complex dynamics that existed within the New England Patriots. With Brady’s attempt to shield Belichick from Hernandez’s trash to the deteriorating relationship between the coach and the quarterback, it has been a rollercoaster ride.
