Brady echoes Dunlap’s feat

In a conversation with Michael Strahan on the Let’s Go! Podcast, Brady draws attention to Dunlap’s inspirational journey from amateur golfer to PGA Tour Champion. Since this victory has transpired after almost 30 years, Brady claimed how Dunlap’s achievement demanded every bit of attention. He further claims that people are often unaware of the events occurring outside football, “Everyone pays attention to football. But that was impressive for the golf fans out there, it was pretty unbelievable”. By finishing the 72-hole tournament at an impressive 29-under-par 259, the golfer’s triumph has been marked by a one-stroke victory over Christiaan Bezuidenhout.

Dunlap caught Brady’s attention by making history and becoming the first amateur to secure a PGA Tour Title since Phil Mickleson’s triumph at the 1991 Northern Telecom Open. However, despite creating the record, he was denied the opportunity to claim the $1,512,000 prize as the rules of amateur status. This win ensured to shift the focus from Patrick Mahomes, who claimed the spotlight on the same day.

Patrick Mahomes’ resilience on display

As rightly mentioned by Brady, the football craze ran high as fans questioned Mahomes’s ability to overcome the challenges. Known for his calm demeanor and the ability to thrive under pressure, he embraced the doubters as a source of motivation. Under his guidance, the Kansas City Chiefs ventured into their first true road playoff game in the Mahomes era.
