Tom Brady’s charm slithered its way into every fan’s heart, something that even his teammates could not resist. So each time someone musters up the strength to make any critical comment, he is at the gunpoint of all these people. Something that Alex Smith is now well aware of. Being roasted by internet fans is one thing, but being roasted by fellow football players is, well… not the best experience for Smith.

The roots of the situation trace back to the (in)famous “mediocre” comment Brady made for the current-day NFL. Sharing a common reaction that many others had, Smith too, was displeased with the opinion. But he chose to go down a tricky path, calling the Patriots “the most uncompetitive division in NFL history.” Although he should have kept the opinion purely about the team, he didn’t, earning him a burning reply.

Former teammates shield Tom Brady from trash talk

Smith attempted to persuade fans about Brady’s comments not making much sense, as he “hasn’t been retired that long,” and that he essentially won a Super Bowl amid the mediocrity. This was where Julian Edelman’s and Cameron Newton’s savage replying bones got tickled. Grabbing the first opportunity they saw, Edelman and Newton got their defending caps on, at the ‘4th and the 1 show’. “No one talks about Tom. You can’t talk about him like that,” hollered Edelman. Further dialing his anger down, Edelman chose a simpler path. “You’re not that guy to talk about the goat like that. It’s not you, it’s not you.”

Further, WR brought up some secrets from thier trip to Beaumont, just when Newton thought of spicing it up. “You’re bullying him now. And I love it,” snorted he. “I mean, he had that,” Newton further stated. Nevertheless, all these statements were not just targets flung in the air, the former Patriots star players rustled up the books to bring up instances of them against Smith.

Alex Smith gets roasted for losing against the ‘uncompetitive division’

Edelman mentions, “We played him a couple of times off playoffs and knocked them out. It was easy to get there. I guess if you’re a part of that row.” The perfect reply to Smith’s criticism of the Patriots. Sure enough, Smith’s period with the 49ers and the Chiefs was commendable.
