The last time Antonio Brown played in the NFL, he stormed off the field – leaving Tom Brady and the rest of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to fend for themselves – never to step foot on one again. While he left his team behind back then, what he held on to were his grudges. And since that fateful day, Tom Brady has been on the receiving end of Brown’s verbal bashing. If you think about it, their roles reversed off the field, with Brown constantly on the offensive and Brady being the ‘wide receiver.’ But has doling out this constant bashing finally caught up to Brown?

Throughout the feud, Brown’s comments have only garnered him criticism. The former teammates’ relationship took a turn for the worse when AB reportedly commented on Brady’s personal life with ex-wife Gisele Bundchen. Since then, he’s been calling out Brady every chance he gets. On the other hand, the seven-time Super Bowl champion has taken the high road by trying to avoid controversy. Well, tired of being the only one rolling out barbs, AB attempted to smoothen out the grudge.

Making up his mind to cease the feud, AB initiated a peace offering on the Fresh and Fit podcast. When asked what his relationship with his former teammate is like, AB confessed, “Tom is a great player,” which was surprising after all the public accusations he’s made aimed at Brady. He continued, “He is one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time in the NFL.” Opening up about his relationship with the football icon, Brown hinted at how they’ve drifted apart.

In the NFL, just like every other job, you have to stick with a person, work with a person. But that doesn’t necessarily entail having a long-term relationship.” However, he’s grateful for all Brady did to help him throughout his career, especially considering the seven-time Super Bowl champion reportedly played a big role in bringing AB to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. There’s no bad blood, no bad energy. He’s a great football player, helped me in my career, and called me back when they won the Super Bowl,” stated Brown. “Shoutout to Tom Brady,” he concluded.

With this, Brown indirectly addressed all the things fans have been putting him down for, shunning all the nay-sayers. However, this is not the first time the former WR has tried his hand at ending the public animosity between them. In November 2023, Brown decided to bury the hatchet by reaching out to Brady with a heartfelt offer. “Tom Brady, I’m sorry, let’s go fishing,” tweeted AB. However, Tom Brady opted out of his diplomatic words, which only seemed to fuel Brown’s vendetta against the former quarterback.

AB may be “selfish” per fans, but Tom Brady is the selfish one for Brown

It’s no secret that Antonio Brown blames Tom Brady for the abrupt end to his NFL career. Since his exit in 2022, he’s made it known to the public several times. In fact, the former wide receiver even claimed that Brady called him a week before one of their games and promised to throw around 10 targets at him. However, AB ended that game with none. So when an old video of Brady talking about “selfish” players on the team resurfaced, and fans claimed he was referencing Brown, he didn’t hold back.

Replying to that video on X, Brown seethed, “Ask anyone is Tom Brady selfish. Bro want stats, too. You think he like Peyton Manning or you think he didn’t play longer than Drew Brees to pass his stats? ok, ima let the crackers think it’s me [who’s selfish] when I’m coming off the bench to help his team win 🥇”

On one hand, Brown’s conflicting emotions towards Brady never fail to make waves. On the other, Brady’s seemingly indirect jibes at him have worsened the situation. Even so, Brown has been trying to put things in the past with gestures of goodwill toward Brady, like inviting him for that fishing trip.
