This clumsy scuffle lasted less than 30 seconds before police and event security intervened. Newton, the first pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, doesn’t throw any punches but appears to defend himself against the other men quite well. However, there have been no reports of any serious injuries from the player or any other parties involved in the altercation till now.
Unraveling the triggers behind Cam Newton’s on-field scuffle
It’s unclear what triggered the altercation, although it might be linked to a video Newton posted on social media earlier. In the video, Newton said, “If you beat my team – 15U C1N Red or 18U C1N Platinum – I will pay every single player on the team. Tell me who’s doing that. If that ain’t putting your money where your mouth is, I don’t know what to say.” Newton made these remarks before his team lost to TopShelf Performance’s 18U team.
