Awkward would simply be a dry understatement to describe the discourse that Robert Kraft and Bill Belichick shared. “It could cut f*cking glass,” was a more appropriately apt wording for the meet per Julian Edelman. In a night full of scathingly sweet jokes at the Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady, there was something much more serious brewing underneath the surface that had the former Patriots’ players sweating.

Julian Edelman and Drew Bledsoe finally jumped at the opportunity they got to talk about it. The Sunday Night at Kia Forum was the first time Bill Belichick and Robert Kraft came face-to-face after Belichick’s problematic “mutual” exit from the Patriots. “It was so awkward,” Edelman confessed when the players were confused about what to do when the two were in the same room. “I was like oh sh*t, this going to be some fireworks. I just walked away. That was some crazy sh*t man,” Edelman added on his show Games with Names, stressing how thick the palpable air was.

Thanks to The Dynasty: New England Patriots, the fans know the reason behind the rift. The revelations made in the Dynasty: New England Patriots left the fans stunned, even more so by the way things between Kraft and Belichick ended. The downfall of the Robert Kraft-Bill Belichick era

The reason for it all? The silently brewing chasm between Tom Brady and Bill Belichick tainted the relationship between Kraft and Belichick as well. It all started after the Patriots lost the 2018 Super Bowl against the Eagles. Kraft invited Brady and his then-wife Gisele Bundchen over in the guise of dinner to ask Brady if he wanted to be traded. Little did Kraft know he would be met with Bundchen’s wrath. “That effing Belichick, he doesn’t treat my Tommy like a man,” Bundchen was pissed at Belichick, who was pissed at Tom.

The problem stemmed from allowing Alex Guerrero back, where Belichick’s authority over Brady started to feel attacked. “It was the one time through 20 years I really have stepped in and got involved,” Kraft confessed. The tension was at an all-time high between Belichick and Brady. Then came a point where Brady left the Patriots, and Kraft had only one person to blame: Bill Belichick. An ESPN Source revealed that “Kraft would put down Belichick at every opportunity.”

Another crucial point in the timeline that worsened their bond was Belichick parting ways with the Patriots. All of this, the culminating effect of it all propelled them to their breaking point. Although Bledsoe admitted to the conversation between Belichick and Kraft at the GROAT being “sincere,” the apparent effect of it all was distinctly visible on their faces at the GROAT.
