Quarterbacks are always the ones getting peppered with questions in the NFL. It comes with the territory—face of the franchise, leader of the huddle, you name it. But still, the former Jets QB turned FOX analyst Mark Sanchez isn’t tired of it. In fact, he wants more. He’s on a mission to sit down with as many quarterbacks as possible. Why? Because, as Sanchez sees it, these guys have way more stories tucked away than we ever get to hear. And yes, he’s the best to pull those stories out.

So how does he pull it off? That’s where FOX Sports’ new digital series “Rearview” comes in. The concept is as simple as it is clever: Weekly interviews with your favorite QBs (will include impact players and coaches at some point as well), filmed right from their cars. FOX teased the news on their Instagram handle, writing, “Rearview brings you weekly interviews with your favorite players, straight from their cars.”
But the story behind bringing Rearview to life is as interesting as its concept. Back in 2009, the Jets grabbed Sanchez with the No. 5 pick, and he went on to spend the better part of his career in New York. A couple of years later, his longtime buddy Scott McKnight joined the team in 2011. Both of them have long since walked away from the game, but that bond never faded.

In fact, it’s the same friendship that eventually pulled Sanchez into his next chapter—landing him a spot at FOX. But the plot thickened from here. McKnight found a company called GOAT Farm Media that was looking to launch a new digital show. Sanchez, of course, was the first choice to host the show. “When he was talking to me about the show and getting a host, it just kind of worked out perfect,” the former Jets’ QB said.

One thing led to another, and soon enough, Tom Brady came aboard through his connections with the creative company Shadow Lion. And that’s how Rearview came to life. That said, Sanchez is all set to host his new digital show with a new quarterback every week. The debutant, though? It’s the Chargers‘ quarterback, Justin Herbert, fresh off a season opener victory over the Chiefs.
Justin Herbert kicks off Mark Sanchez’s raw and unfiltered show
Justin Herbert had a wonderful start to the month of September. The 27-year-old quarterback finished his season opener with 25-of-34 for 318 yards and three passing touchdowns, leading the Chargers to a 27-21 win over the Chiefs. Fast forward to now, and Herbert just joined the debut episode of Mark Sanchez’s Rearview. The quarterback shared his perspective on the win over the Chiefs and the challenges lined up ahead this season.
Adding to that, he dove into the coaching rivalry between Jim Harbaugh and Pete Carroll ahead of the Week 2 game against the Raiders, gave shoutouts to his teammates, the rivalry between Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson, and you name it. Herbert’s ready to talk about it all. That’s what we signed up for through Sanchez’s new digital series, which is going to be “a raw, unfiltered look” at the NFL.

The Jets’ legend, while addressing his show, stated that, “There’s a respect, a mutual respect really, especially quarterback to quarterback, but also NFL player to NFL player.” “Understanding that person’s perspective and what they’re going through gives some of these players a chance to really open up and give you something they might not have told anybody else, just because they know I’ll be able to understand it. I think that’s one big advantage for our show.”
With that being said, the first episode of Mark Sanchez’s Rearview is already out now. Stay tuned for next week.
