It’s a sad day to be a Rams fan, as one of their beloved players hung his cape from the sport. It’s always a lovely sight to see a player be with the team that drafted him for the entirety of his career. And as was the case with ‘the Terminator’ who poured his blood, sweat, and tears into the glory of the Los Angeles Rams. Aaron Donald, the former defensive tackle for the Rams, announced his retirement from the sport after a decade of giving it his all.

It has always been pretty obvious that Donald was quite small for the role of a defensive tackle. What he lacked in size, Donald made up for with his sheer athleticism and brilliant strategy. He would employ tactics to wreak absolute carnage on the field rather than blind brute strength. And now in an announcement that no one saw coming, Aaron Donald has called for his retirement and made his way off the gridiron for the last time. J.J. Watt, a former rival, joined the storm of fans who expressed their well wishes for the next ventures of the legendary DT.

In a sentimental note that Donald issued on account of his retirement, he said, “Throughout my career, I have given my everything to football both mentally and physically – 365 days a year was dedicated to becoming the best possible player I could be. I respected this game like no other, and I’m blessed to be able to conclude my NFL career with the same franchise that drafted me.”

He continued, “Not many people get drafted to a team, win a world championship with that team, and retire with that team. I do not, and will not, take that for granted.” Thus, it is a sorrowful day for the sport indeed, as Donald’s exit will leave a void in the NFL but with all that said, the fans will continue to wish him well for the rest of his life and thank the ‘Terminator’ for all the memories.
