The game of football links its major personalities and fans in a tight mesh, so much so that one’s updates are never missed by the other. Rob Gronkowski’s brother, Gordie Gronkowski Jr., threw a reality grenade at the Baltimore Ravens’ RB Derrick Henry. So, what’s the scoop? Henry’s name has been doing rounds on the internet for his insanely expensive maintenance program, which costs the player as much as $240,000. Like most football fans, Gordie has been surprised. But his reason differs from that of others. The no-nonsense Henry has put trolls in place with one sentence.

The Baltimore RB is the player with one of the rarest physical specimens in the NFL hood. Standing at 6-foot-3, Henry is the sixth-tallest player to amass a record of at least 250 carries in his career. Only two players taller than him have carried the ball more times: Eric Dickerson and Eddie George. Given the present lifestyle, to maintain his physical stature, weighing 247 pounds, Henry has to take good care of his body. And here comes the catch! The RB is so in love with his body that he did not even think twice before spending a whopping $240,000 a year. SportsCenter posted the news on July 19 on their Instagram page.

Scouting through the comment section, Gordie’s intriguing comment catches attention. The brother of the NFL legend and the co-owner of G&G Fitness Equipment and Gronk Fitness Products wrote, Yea he needs it bad after those hits. Surprised he doesn’t spend more.” Being an RB is a tough job in itself. On top of that, RBs are prone to receiving blows on the field. Hence, to shield himself, Henry walks on the correct path, according to Gordie.

The exhaustive yearly expense covers massages, hyperbaric oxygen, IV fluids, a vitamin-rich diet, infrared saunas, vitamins, nutrients [three times a week], and whatnot. And before taking care of himself, he needs to hush the hecklers.

Henry’s decision to join the Ravens resulted in mixed reactions

On March 12 this year, Henry left the Tennessee Titans and onboarded the Baltimore Ravens ship. But it was a huge blow to the Titan fans, who stripped the RB on social media with harsh criticism. Most of them put Henry’s faithfulness to a fitness test. A loyal Tennessee fan, Paul Kuharsky, posted on X on July 19, “If you root for Derrick Henry to the extent that you want the Ravens to win so much as a game, you are not the #Titans’ fan you think you are. Period. Not up for debate.”

And the RB had enough. Instead of turning a deaf ear to the criticism, Henry whipped up a plan to put the fan in his place. It did not take the player to resort to verbal abuse, but only one sentence. Re-sharing the post, the RB wrote, “Paul go find something to do.”

However, the RB had a strong army rooting for him even after the switch. As one of them wrote, “Titans fan forever, but I will always root for you to show the entire league what a badass RB you are. Wish you all the best.” Parting ways with the Titans, Henry sealed the deal with the Baltimore Ravens with a two-year contract worth $16 million. And now, will his $240,000 ‘fitness fund’ secure a longer stint in the NFL? Do share your thoughts.
