Tragedy has struck football fans surrounding the legend, O.J. Simpson. Reportedly, the former Buffalo Bills running back and Pro Football Hall of Famer has recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer. On top of that, owing to his serious condition, the 76-year-old football legend is said to be undergoing chemotherapy in Nevada.

Initially, there have been many speculations about Simpson being suffering from cancer, but recently he has taken things into his own hands quite tactfully and addressed the rumors about being in hospice care. However, Simpson did not confirm or deny the reported cancer diagnosis, leaving fans concerned about his health.

Simpson addresses the issue amidst conflicting reports

Citing inside sources, Local 10 News, reported that Simpson has been diagnosed with the deadly disease for which he is undergoing treatment in Las Vegas. With the spreading of this reported news, the football enthusiasts had been engulfed in a shock and refused to wait for the confirmation from Simpson’s end.

Noticing the matter getting serious, the legend took to social media appearing in a rather good spirit. Since as per the reports, he has been mentioned to be living in a hospice, in the video shared on Twitter, he neither confirmed or denied the reported cancer diagnosis. In the video, Simpson is seen telling, “No I’m not in any hospice. I don’t know who put that out there.” Previously, in a video shared in May 2023, the athlete had briefly mentioned having “caught cancer”. However, he did not specify what type of cancer he had but he surely shared the aspects of his fight against the disease. Even though, the news of Simpson’s cancer diagnosis is yet to be confirmed, football enthusiast fear to lose the gem who is known for his remarkable performances on the field.

Being the first Heisman Trophy winner, Simpson also became the first overall pick in the 1969 NFL Draft by Buffalo Bills. During his stellar nine-year stint in Buffalo, the legend led the league in rushing four time within this span of time. With this, he solidified his status acquiring the acclamation of one of the most dominant running backs in NFL history. By the time he decided to retire from the sport, Simpson held an impressive statistics.

It is to be noted that, he amassed 10,183 rushing yards, 175 catches, 57 touchdowns, 1,924 receiving yards. Along with this, Simpson acquired 12 additional scores in 112 games. In this way, he channeled his talent to earn six Pro Bowl selections and five All-Pro honors.

As the public and football enthusiast await for further clarification on Simpson’s health, uncertainty surrounds his cancer diagnosis. Whether remembered for his on-field prowess or reported health struggles, his multifaceted story continues to unfold shedding light on the enduring impact he has had on the sport.
