Gronkowski’s revelation unveils the strategic brilliance that sets the seven-time Super Bowl champion apart. The Patriots’ wide receiver, Julian Edelman also takes part in the detailed discussion.

Gronkowski’s interesting insight about Brady’s mismatch mastery

The Super Bowl MVP, Edelman hosted a podcast for the show “Games With Names” and was joined by Gronkowski. The tight end drew attention to the intricate mind of Tom Brady and his ability to exploit matchups to his advantage. To substantiate his point, the player claimed, “Tom throws it to the mismatch every single time basically 99% of the time he’s throwing to the mismatch and he’s not looking at anyone else on the field.”

Brady’s football IQ and his mastery of reading defenses find homage in Gronkowski’s take on the quarterback legend. Besides maximizing the potential for successful plays, it revealed Brady’s trust in his teammates as he identified, “He always told me I don’t care what linebacker is on you Gronk I’m going to throw you the ball cuz that’s a mismatch you’re faster than linebackers and you’re more athletic than linebacker”. Drawing from this, Edelman too shows his acknowledgment of Gronkowski’s strengths.

Edelman shed light on Gronkowski’s exceptional speed advantage over the linebackers, “So you’re right there you’re about to hit that red area and anytime you see a Defender like a linebacker five yards off on Rob it’s automatically a mismatch because what people don’t realize Rob was faster than every linebacker and he can accelerate so instantaneously”. This takes us back to his athletic prowess when despite facing a season-ending ACL injury in 2013 he was in great form.
