When Tom Brady’s minority ownership with the Las Vegas Raiders was approved, Mark Davis said: “I want Tom to have a huge voice…no question about it.” Since then, Brady has been through two coaching changes and a front office change with John Spytek’s hiring, all while the Raiders recorded one of the worst seasons in franchise history.

Of course, Brady’s role as a FOX analyst and the conflict of interest that it creates may also come into the debate. But it’s also worth noting that the Raiders failed to produce the results expected from his influence. Now, ahead of the 2026 season, NFL analyst Mike Florio believes that Brady keeping multiple jobs at the same time may not help the Raiders in the long term.
“Stop talking about the (Tom) Brady stuff,” said Florio. “Stop talking about it. He’s not going to make him any better as long as he’s doing all this other s**t. So, let him keep doing what he’s doing. Let him think that he’s in a position to turn this thing around because he’s not. I’m more worried about Matt Ryan, I was told, than I am Tom Brady. Because Matt Ryan loaded up the truck and moved to Atlanta. He’s there. He didn’t try to do both jobs. He’s all in, all the time.
“You got to be all in, all the time to be effective. Now, (Troy) Aikman’s in a different spot because he’s not pretending to be the GM or an owner. He’s just kind of an agent out in the field. He’s a traveling salesman for the Dolphins. But is it a conflict? Yes. Should the NFL have never allowed it? Absolutely. They should never have allowed it. ‘Our team’s afraid of Tom Brady helping the Raiders turn it around.’ They’re not.”
There’s no denying that Brady influences the organization’s decisions. For starters, after becoming the Raiders’ minority owner, he “nudged (Mark) Davis into firing (Tom) Telesco and (Antonio) Pierce,” per Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Subsequently, the Raiders replaced Telesco with Spytek and Pierce with Pete Carroll.
The results, however, were far from decent. The Raiders finished the 2025 season 3-14, the worst in the NFL, and earned the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft. At the same time, Carroll failed to survive more than one season in Vegas. Meanwhile, it’s also worth noting that Tom Brady failed to land his preferred target for the head coaching role during the 2025 offseason.
Brady strongly favored Ben Johnson to lead the Raiders, who ultimately chose the Chicago Bears. At the same time, Brady’s dual role as FOX’s lead analyst created another problem. When his ownership was approved, the league restricted his access to certain team activities and information. The concern was that Brady could potentially receive information through his broadcasting role that could benefit the Raiders.
The issue became particularly visible in September 2025, when Brady was seen wearing a headset in the Raiders’ coach’s booth during a game against the Los Angeles Chargers. However, despite the criticism for his conflict of interest, Brady acknowledged the Raiders’ struggles, as he noted: “There’s nobody who did a good job.”
So, while Brady prepares to start his 2026 season as the Raiders’ minority owner, his dual role with FOX will certainly keep him under the microscope. After all, unlike Matt Ryan, who left CBS to become the Atlanta Falcons‘ President of Football, and Troy Aikman, who only works as a consultant for the Miami Dolphins, Tom Brady is both a minority owner and a FOX analyst.
