The Apple TV Plus docuseries The Dynasty has found a solid place among the NFL fandom. As they delve deeper into the episodes, they unravel more secrets of the bygone Patriots era. However, Patriots.com’s Matt Smith, Paul Perillo, and Mike Dussault chose two crucial episodes from the entire series and placed their opinions on the real incidents that had been captured. What better point of discussion than to decode the famous tussle between coach-quarterback Bill Belichick-Tom Brady?

There has been much speculation among the public about the Brady-Belichick rift, as some viewers claimed it to be fabricated. Perillo’s opinion exposed the challenges that lurked beneath the surface, “What you’re just making it up now this is not reality and what these two episodes and really the whole documentary series showed was that they weren’t making it up. There was issues they held it together, it’s amazing they held it together as long as they did but there were issues at the end that were were causing it to be untenable and coming to an inevitable end.” According to Perillo, Brady and Belichick tried to walk on the same path as long as they could until things turned out unmanageable.

This ultimately led Brady to cut ties with the Patriots after 20 long seasons that had shaken up the whole franchise and the fans who looked up to him. It was the first time that the real reason behind Brady’s split has been scrutinized in detail, and that too from multiple sources that added to the intrigue. As pointed out by Perillo, other players like Devin McCourty and Matthew Slater weighed in to shed light on the equation players shared with Belichick. He pointed out, “McCourty and Slater were good on that topic. I think Slater said something to the effect of that. He didn’t think that Belichick at the time was maybe connected enough to the players.” All these conversations take viewers down memory lane to the famous Brady-Belichick tussle.

Brady unveils the strain that led to his departure

Even though The Dynasty is dedicated to tracing the journey of the New England Patriots, an important chapter remains the tension between Belichick and Brady. As found in the docuseries, the former quarterback revealed how he and the coach never came to terms while making any decision. Brady highlighted, “I mean, look every relationship ebbs and flows. He’s got to make decisions that he thinks are best, and I have my own decisions which I think are best.”

Giving a background of how he decided to cut ties with the New England Patriots, TB12 said, “Me and coach Belichick, we did what we loved and competed for 20 years together. But I wasn’t going to sign another contract (in New England) even if I wanted to play until (I was) 50. Based on how things had gone, I wasn’t going to sign up for more of it.”

Hence, based on the insights, a lack of communication was one of the primary reasons that led Tom Brady and Bill Belichick to end their partnership on a sour note. Always having a guarded approach, even off-field, Belichick failed to provide Brady with moral support and motivation.
