Being one of the most handsome Patriots players? Check. Being one of the most sharp-spoken people in Patriots history? Also, check. Danny Amendola’s history with the Patriots was his golden era. Yet, he had some complaints with the period, ones that could cause a huge stir, rather than channel Bill Belichick’s position at Patriots in a whole other direction, not to mention Tom Brady’s ‘mediocre’ views on the league.

Patriots, one of the few two teams boasting of 6 SB wins in NFL history, had one of the most daunting 4-13 seasons yet. Well, the previous ones haven’t been glorifying either, especially after Brady left. Hence, the classic question of Belichick not being the perfect head coach for the Patriots anymore. Alongside Brady considering ‘present-day football’ mediocre hasn’t been exactly welcomed as well, creating the perfect maelstrom of controversies around them. As if Tom Brady always vouching for Belichick was not enough, former WR Danny Amendola’s statement might be the ultimate thrust from the clip for the controversy.

Amendola, along with many other 20-year-olds like Rob Gronkowski, were the backbone of the Patriots and their SB. The current Raiders assistant coach cherishes his time with the Patriots from 2013 to 2017 and two SB wins. Yet, in an upcoming Apple TV+ documentary ‘The Dynasty: New England Patriots’, the former WR expressed the long-buried secret. “We worked for Bill, but we played for Tom,” commented he, summing up Brady’s vitality in the team.

Amendola’s statement gives a very strong edge to the rumors, crediting most of the Patriots’ success to Tom Brady. Given the fresh perspective, now the analysts who condemned Brady for the mediocre comment might have to reconsider their words. Amendola’s statement gave the fans a scene from the Patriots locker room when Brady was present. Although his statement hardly displays Amendola’s preference towards Brady as a QB, it surely is another example displaying Brady’s leadership skills. The statement also explains, to a level, Belichick having a hard time keeping up with the media.

Bill Belichick branded ‘mediocre’

Ex-NFL reporter Bart Hubbuch has been following Belichick’s career closely for the past 30 years. Safe to say he was not happy with the recent developments. He, too, disclosed the importance of Brady in the Patriots’ success. “Having Brady really went to his head, because Belichick’s record without Brady really shows he is a mediocre coach, at best, who lucked into a generational talent,” blatantly stated Hubbuch in an interview with the Mirror UK.

Well, most analysts would agree with Hubbuch’s statement. All of this just fuels the possibility of the Patriots bidding their farewell to Belichick post-season further. All, except Tom Brady and a few others, believe in it. Only time will prove whose prediction proves right.
