NBA legend Charles Barkley had some strong words on a platter while criticizing highly paid QBs in the NFL. Speaking about Aaron Rodgers’ contract that guarantees him a big payout, Barkley went on to thrash other QBs as well. He wanted to prove a point. Barkley feels that as soon as a QB gets a big contract, their performance declines and they never win a Super Bowl after that.

Similarly, he predicted the same fate for the Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott. While Prescott is a promising candidate to big the Lombardi to Dallas, Barkley has already signed him off him due to his multi-million dollar contract.

Barkley called out top quarterbacks in the NFL for their ‘acts of selfishness.’ He called NFL quarterbacks out for chasing money. So much so that he even called them greedy pigs. He believes that such massive contracts and their quality of playing are not correlated at all. It only deteriorates their competitive edge.

All great quarterbacks are known by the number of Super Bowls they win and not the size of their contract. Brady has maintained his competitive advantage by signing contracts that value him moderately, as per his stature. After all, winning 7 out of 10 Super Bowl appearances isn’t a piece of cake.

Charles Barkley is not holding back on his words for NFL QBs

Appearing on the ‘Waddle & Silvy’ radio show, Barkley ripped Rodgers and other QBs while predicting that the same thing will happen with Prescott. He said, “You know what I don’t understand with these quarterbacks? Why they such greedy pigs? I’m being serious.”

He added, “Every quarterback who has gotten big money never won again. You go Flacco, you go Russell, Aaron the first time, you go Drew Brees; Dak is gonna be in that boat. Matt Ryan’s in that same boat.”

Time will tell what happens with Prescott but Barkley is not taking his words back. If it turns out to be true, QBs would have to rethink the way they sign contracts and wonder if they want to prioritize money over winning a Super Bowl for their team.
