The Chicago Bears have the best pick in the 2024 NFL draft, giving them almost a superpower to pick the best of the players available. The prospect is none other than Caleb Williams, who is considered a number 1 pick. Per the latest announcement made by the Bears general manager, it seems that the Chicago Bears are trying to make room for a new player, who can very likely be the 2022 Heisman Trophy winner.
The rumors of the Bears QB Justin Herbert being traded have taken over the internet. Amidst this, the Bears general manager’s statement surrounding Herbert’s trade has taken the rumors to the next level. NFL Insider Ian Rapoport reported Bears general manager Ryan Poles saying, “If we go down that road (of trading Justin Fields), I want to do right by Justin. We’ll move as quickly as possible.” He further added, “Poles says he has no timeline, but he understands that no one wants uncertainty.”

Poles’ silence surrounding their decision related to keeping or trading Justin Herbert after almost two months of securing the first pick in the 2024 NFL draft was giving rise to several speculations. One speculation among them was concerning Caleb Williams. Williams was thought to sit out on the Bears and go with his native Washington team instead at number 2. Per a report by NBC Sports Chicago, the Bears authorities would sit down with Williams for the first time this week to discuss the expectations from the 2024 NFL draft.
Even Colin Cowherd reported that, per his sources, Williams would prefer not to be a Bear. This opinion was the origin of the ‘Williams being an anti-Bear’ controversy that started in January. Despite all this, Ryan Pole isn’t concerned about the franchise landing Caleb Williams.

Ryan Poles on Caleb Williams
The Bears general manager shocked everyone with his response towards securing Caleb Williams and the controversy surrounding it. While everyone expected him to assure people to hire Williams or stay silent, he responded rather calmly, highlighting the franchise’s readiness to get a rookie QB, alongside or without Herbert.
Talking to Chicago media on Tuesday, Poles said, “I would love to know why, if that was the case. Like I said, I think as a young quarterback, and I’ve been around it, the infrastructure is important, and I think we’ve made really good progress in terms of having really good infrastructure for whoever were to come in or if Justin were to stay here as well.”

However, with Poles referencing Herbert’s transfer, the new debates would surround who would the next QB on the Chicago Bears roster be? What do you think? Share your picks with us in the comments!
