“Come play with Justin Fields, baby!” was what DJ Moore said in his pitch to convince Tee Higgins to join the Bears. The Bears sitting on top of the 2024 NFL draft by having the first pick on Draft Day has its corollaries. Like the team becoming a center of attention for the prospective players on the quest for a trade. Tee Higgins, a Bengals player, is set on a similar pursuit following his reported futile talks with his team Cincinnati Bengals. Per ESPN, there had been little to no movement on a potential contract extension with Higgins since March 2023. Exasperated, Higgins is on the lookout for a potential long-term team and Bears’ DJ Moore has the perfect pitch planned to lure him in.

It all starts with the Bears’ solid plan for securing the top collegiate QB, Caleb Williams, as their first pick on draft day is set to strengthen the QB department at the Bears, with Justin Fields already deployed on-field. Now, to complement the electrifying duo, they need a seasoned WR like Higgins to match their explosiveness. Several sources have predicted the Chicago Bears to be the perfect landing spot for Higgins. Hence, Moore knows what the team would do if they secured Tee Higgins this season in their WR department. “We probably gonna throw the ball. I know he’s there in a good situation with Joe Burrow, but come play with Justin,” was all DJ Moore had to say on the Up and Adams show to lure Higgins in.

The Clemson alum just wrapped up his four-year, $8.68 million rookie contract he signed with Cincinnati Bengals in 2020. The talks stalled in the last season when Higgins had his least productive season because of his injuries. Until last season, the Bengals’ director of player personnel Duke Tobin was ready to shoot down the idea of trading him, something that Tobin has not turned down this season, another hint from the Bengals end of not being interested in Higgins.

Is Duke Tobin hinting at Tee Higgins’s move?

“He’s not under contract and it’s hard for me to predict all the different scenarios that could happen, but we feel strongly about Tee Higgins and his fit with us,” Tobin bluntly stated, leaving out all the possibilities for Higgins on the table. The move from Bengals might be prompted because of the not-so-impressive stats of 656 yards and five touchdowns for 42 passes, mainly because of all the games he missed because of his injuries.

During his four seasons at Bengals, Higgins amassed 3,684 yards, 257 catches, and 24 touchdowns. While the Bengals have given a one-year franchise tag worth $21.8 million for the upcoming season if Higgins fails to find a trade, he knows better to pick up a good trade once he finds one since the team did not entertain any of Johan Williams’ requests last season, because of which, the right tackle had to ultimately request a trade. So, will Tee Higgins be lured in by DJ Moore’s proposal?
