Just when it seemed that the NFL’s JJ McCarthy fever had peaked, it got worse. The dire need for a good QB in the draft market, especially JJ McCarthy, has almost driven the teams to the verge of insanity, prompting them to wager their best resources including even some of their finest players on the roster. The Denver Broncos have reached that stage.

Broncos CB Patrick Surtain II might not be seen in the next season with the Broncos. Well, sitting at No.12 isn’t helping them much in getting an elite-class QB on their roster. Especially when they have the Vikings, the Giants, and the Patriots hot on their heels for the same QB they are after. However, the JJ McCarthy obsession has crossed the limits for Broncos as Paul Allen’s report predicted the franchise being “so desperate for a trade up for a QB, especially for JJ McCarthy, that they could possibly include star CB Patrick Surtain II in the trade.”

“I wouldn’t surprised if it was ‘We want that 3 so badly we will give you [pick No.] 12, we will give you next year’s 1st-rounder, and we will give you Patrick Surtain II’. I’m not kidding you. They are that desperate,” Allen added further. While Surtain is in the last year of his 4-year rookie contract, earlier the Broncos didn’t seem too keen on trading him. But Sean Payton and Co. are left with little options, hence the path.

The franchise’s past with ‘trades’ is a known affair, everyone witnessed what happened the last time they made one: a catastrophe in their QB room. For them, McCarthy seems one of the only few options who could fix the disaster Russell Wilson left behind. But will they get a trade-up? Especially with the Vikings in a cutthroat competition?

Vikings former GM Rick Spielman predicted that the franchise is more likely to “overpay” for JJ McCarthy if they don’t leave the hot trail they are on. Following the Kirk Cousins $180 million deal with the Falcons, they too are in an identical situation to the Broncos. They need a QB!

The Vikings are one of the most talked about teams regarding trading up in the QB market. They are expected to strike a deal with either the No. 4 Cardinals, the No.5 Chargers, or the No.3 Patriots (only if Eliot Wolf can get over his love for McCarthy). If the Vikings get a trade-up, that would surely mean some big bad news for the Broncos. And if the Broncos get a trade-up, all the Vikings’ efforts alone would go down the drain.
