Life is a complete circle for Caleb Williams. After all, his decision to not participate in anything other than the measurements and press conferences in the NFL Combine Week turned out to be in his favor. Measuring in at  6-foot-1 and 214 pounds, the numbers rang NFL scouts’ bells as they looked quite similar to someone they had seen before. Someone whom Caleb Williams considered the GOAT of the NFL, as opposed to the popular notion of Tom Brady being the GOAT in the NFL.

“I’m around Aaron Rodgers,” Caleb Williams said proudly, as the QB measured 6’2″ and 223 pounds in the 2005 NFL Combine. It was a major compliment for him since for Williams, “My football GOAT is Aaron Rodgers.” When Rodgers started his illustrious NFL career, Williams was only 4. Fast forward about 18 years, Caleb Williams is dubbed as Aaron Rodgers’ “comp”.

Who is your comp with a current NFL quarterback to Caleb Williams? Tell our audience,” asked the ESPN host to his guest. The answer to this came as something hardly anyone ever expected. “For me, it’s Aaron Rodgers,” Davis said.

“The reason I go with Aaron Rogers with Caleb Williams this year plug in the USC tape and I know you guys already have how many times did you see him play out of structure and how many of it was always that the buck play broke down and he had to be out of structure or did he quit trusting people up front and got out of structure earlier than you normally would remember,” Davis explained. With Davis drawing the parallels between Caleb Williams and Aaron Rodgers, would Williams be the perfect pick for the Chicago Bears?

Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears

There has been a lot of back-and-forth surrounding Caleb Williams joining the Bears. While Williams going to the Bears is almost locked now, some analysts have given their two cents on how the team might not be the perfect pick for Caleb Williams. Fox Sports analyst Joy Taylor believes that “He’s going to a team that has no culture, has no history of winning as of late, whose coach we don’t know is a good head coach, etc.”

Last year marked the third straight season the Bears have missed the playoffs. This is why the analyst also pointed out that the Bears are not lucky in owning a winning history, which will be a challenging environment for a winning QB like Williams to thrive in.

That, paired with Matt Eberflus not having a successful first season, and the Bears performing horribly in the last season also adds to the suspicion. Chicago Football Connection stated that such a seamless transition would not be the best suited for Williams and that he could get into some “elite franchises if he tried harder.” So what do you think about Caleb Williams going to the NFL? Should the QB go to the Bears or not? Drop your thoughts in the comments.
