There is no place for any second thoughts when it’s about the coaching maestro, Jim HarbaughThat is what Ben Herbert, the executive director of the Los Angeles Chargers player performance, revealed in the press conference

Herbert had full confidence in Harbaugh, as he revealed that it only took him 30 seconds and a nod from his wife to decide to move from the Michigan Wolverines to the Los Angeles Chargers at Harbaugh’s request. Herbert is not the only one who followed Harbaugh after he left the Wolverines. The numbers are quite a few.

During his stint at the Wolverines, Herbert was known as the X-factor. Being the head strength and conditioning coach, he left ties with the Ann Harbor when Harbaugh made his way out. On joining the Chargers, Harbaugh expressed his wish to get Herbert into his team, and the coach wasted no time deciding to move out and join him. He disclosed, “Pretty much the conversation went like this I looked at my wife we talked through the details which took probably uh five to seven minutes I called Coach back because the conversation I had with Coach took 30 seconds.” Besides taking care of Herbert, Harbaugh cared for his other needs, including his family.

As Herbert said, “We talked about the things that you know were important to my family, and he called me back and confirmed the situation that he was going to provide me with.” To pay back the support that Herbert has received from Harbaugh, the coach focused on creating an exciting offseason program that will impact the Chargers.

According to records, Herbert spent the past six seasons at Michigan, where he helped develop 22 NFL Draft picks, including six first-round selections. This experience may be helpful for Harbuagh’s squad in the upcoming NFL Draft. In the off-season, the coach focuses on developing trust and bonding with the players.

To streamline the process, he distributed a questionnaire that the players filled out to get Herbert a better understanding of where the players stand at the moment. He abides by two values and wants Harbaugh’s squad to do the same: consistency and attention to detail. His goal for the program is to develop stronger and “harder to break” players. To make the Chargers sturdy, his primary focus will be on five key areas: neck, shoulders, hips, hamstrings, and ankles.

Herbert’s transition to the Los Angeles Chargers from the Michigan Wolverines will be easier since, apart from Jim Harbaugh, he has prior connections with the DC, Jesse Minter, and Mike Elston, among others. It is now to be seen how Herbert will use his Michigan roots and collaboration with Harbaugh to help the Chargers achieve success.
