This time, Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning failed to escape the watchful eyes of the analyst Pat McAfee. However, Manning’s performance in the Spring games seems positive for the two-time Pro Bowler. Carrying the legacy of the famous Manning family and being Peyton Manning’s nephew, the quarterback has always been held on a high pedestal regarding expectations.

But at last, he got approval from the legend who scrutinized Manning’s latest development on his Pat McAfee Show. The turning point came when the backup quarterback stole the show on April 20, Saturday’s Spring game.

McAfee’s showers Manning with words of praise

Manning went all dazzling in the Orange and White Spring Game. Being part of Manning’s academy since he was six, the quarterback’s latest performance came with a stunning 75-yard touchdown pass to DeAndre Moore. This spectacle was impressive enough for McAfee to take up in his show, as he pointed out, “His last name is Manning. Yeah he’s bigger, faster and stronger than the other Mannings that you learned of and yeah he is the No. 1 recruit in the country. He’s gonna be good.”

He further pointed out how Manning evolved as a showstopper, debunking all doubts, “There were people who thought this guy’s gonna be a** because of maybe the level playing in high school or whatever. Spring games I guess Arch Manning just went bananas.” Carrying a sharp accuracy, Manning finished the game with an impressive 19-of-26 completion rate because of completing the first 10 passes. Besides Manning, this exceptional performance also drew Coach Steve Sarkisian’s acknowledgment.

Manning on his way to make his family proud

Last season, Manning appeared in only two games, leaving Sarkisian impressed with his performance last Saturday. The coach confessed, “We’re very fortunate at the quarterback position to have a third-year starter to have the backup that we have.” His spring games performance marked a significant step for Manning, as he solidified his position as the clear No.2 quarterback behind Quinn Ewers.

Due to Sarkisian’s strategic approach, the starting quarterback, Ewers, was limited to just two series. The seasoned quarterback who propelled the Longhorns to the Big 12 championship and the 2023 College Football Playoff failed to lead a scoring drive. Hence, Manning’s emergence is crucial now that their 2023 backup, Malik Murphy, has departed. With this, he will be viewed as a reliable and dynamic quarterback alongside Ewers.

Even though Peyton Manning’s acclamation for his nephew is still due, it is confirmed that Arch Manning will make his family proud. Although transfer rumors have swelled throughout the offseason, the quarterback refused to get it into his head and focused on improving his talents and the D-Day to bear the fruits of what he sowed has arrived.
