2024 NFL Combine: Bear’s Potential QB Caleb Williams Lays His Verdict Out On His First Interview With The Chicago Side

Caleb Williams’ appearance at the NFL Combine stirred up hot news and brought the existing dilemma of GM Ryan Poles to life again. The Chicago Bears still have to face the tough decision of whether the team should draft Williams or trade him to retain Justin Fields. Still, the 22-year-old remains the potential favorite No. 1 overall pick for the Bears.
With the 2024 NFL Draft getting closer and the Caleb-Bears dilemma continuing to be at large, the former USC QB drops his views. Before the NFL Combine, Williams told ESPN Pete Thamel, “If I get drafted by the Bears, I’ll be excited. The NFL Network recorded Caleb Williams in a discussion with Tom Pelissero during the NFL Combine. When asked about how his first interview with the Bears went, Williams replied, “It was good. Everybody was cool… They were mainly testing me on my mental, seeing how I handle things, putting up play on the board, and 10 to 15 later asking me to recall and things like that. It was good.”

The 2022 Heisman Trophy winner completed last season with the Trojans with 9.4 passing yards per attempt and 30 passing TDs. The question is which team is Caleb Williams joining? He answered, “Whoever picks first.” While the question of which team he’s joining remains a contradiction, another mystery unfolds at the NFL Combine.

Caleb Williams isn’t going to undergo medical tests
Now the NFL Combine is a culmination of physical and mental tests, including medical tests to assess college football players who are entering the NFL. But interestingly, Caleb Williams chose to forgo the medical tests and measurements, making him the first player to skip those tests at the NFL Combine. He said he would rather do that when he meets the team in person.

Another thing is that he also won’t participate in drills and throws. This is what the 6’1, 215-pounder had to say, “I didn’t feel the need to go out and throw. I played around 30-something games, I believe.
