Putting championships over family was a tough choice that most successful players had to make during their Prime years. Per this equation, Prime Time’s son, Shedeur Sanders, also seems to be entering his Prime years. On March 3, 2024, Shedeur Sanders made a choice, one that would possibly affect his sister Shelomi Sanders more. The day marked Shelomi Sanders’ 6th game as a Buffs women’s basketball freshman against Washington State, one that the Buffs lost after their 3 consecutive wins. However, Shelomi Sanders’ brother was not there to witness the fight her team put up in the 72-63 clash.

Shedeur Sanders was busy with another b-ball game. Given, it was the all-important CIAA Food Lion Tournament Championship on Saturday afternoon. ESPN reported Shedeur Sanders’ presence at the CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore, MD. Fayetteville State clashed with Elizabeth City State in a battle of jumps and hoops. The CIAA finals were nothing short of a tug-of-war. Both teams started a neck-to-neck competition in the first quarter and fiercely fought for dominance in each quarter. Thanks to Keayna McLaughlin’s contribution with eight seconds left on the clock to secure, Fayetteville State secured the crown of the fifth conference title for the program.

Shedeur Sanders shared the feeling when the girls were celebrating their hearts out and it is a feeling that he has been extensively focusing on kindling for quite a while now. First, it was crashing the Lakers vs. Nuggets season-opening game, where he was also added to the TNT opening-night live coverage lineup. Shedeur Sanders was there with his teammate Travis Hunter to cheer his heart out for LeBron James.

James took special time to express his gratitude towards Sanders and Hunter as he posted “Love ya’ll, man,” on his Instagram. Following the game, James even sent a special gift to Sanders, which had a jersey and brand new LeBron James 21 Nike shoes. While Shedeur Sanders is having the time of his life by witnessing the best of basketball games, even trying his hand at the hoop in the middle, Shelomi Sanders is dejected after today’s loss.

Shelomi Sanders faces the first loss of her season

The Cougars had already set a tough target throughout the first three quarters. The fourth quarter, however, was formidable for the Buffs. The target of 25 was an almost unachievable one against Buffs 13. While Sherrod and Miller gave their best, not much action was seen from Shelomi’s end. However, this is her first season at the Buffs following a redshirt one. Hence, the Buffs guard is taking it slow.

Yet, Shelomi Sanders has already given the taste of her potential, that too in the season-opening game for the Buffs. “I was like, ‘I have to get a shot off. I have to score,” stated Shelomi Sanders. She did just that by scoring a 3-pointer late in the game against Air Force Falcons on December 2, 2023, Saturday. Did Shedeur Sanders make the right choice by opting to go to the CIAA Championship instead of going to his sister’s game? Or would he make up by going to her next one? Share with us in the comments!
