The spring transfer portal window has significantly changed the lives of former Colorado Buffaloes players Cormani McClain and Omarion Cooper. They have gone from dedicating themselves to the football field and sweating it out while listening to Deion Sanders’ commands to Facetiming each other, hoping to receive some good news.

Cooper’s luck seems to be turning around as he plans to rejoin the FSU team. However, for McClain, it appears that good times are still out of reach.

Cooper found his next stop in his old home

Cooper’s decision to rejoin FSU is not without its backstory. His stint with Sanders’ Buffs did not last longer than a year. Even though Coach Prime allowed him to take action for the majority of games last season as he put out decent numbers, Cooper was convinced enough to make his impact somewhere else. On April 29, he officially announced this on X. Per the sources, the CB got lucky as his risk-taking move seems to have paid off now that he will be the first Florida State transfer addition of the post-spring window. The former FSU defensive back shared his next step, confirming that he is rejoining the Seminoles on X with the caption, “All faith and glory to the man above #GoNoles.”

Cooper was one of the players that FSU lost last off-season. With the Seminoles, the player appeared in 20 games and made seven starts over two seasons. Even though it is not confirmed whether Cooper will again be a cornerback at FSU or be working for the safety position, Mike Norvell thought bringing him back would be a good decision. While Cooper found his refuge in his old home for McClain, the situation still seems perplexing.

Roadblocks in McClain’s future

McClain has found himself to be the cynosure of enough drama now that he held Deion Sanders responsible for his exit. On his departure, hinting at Coach Prime, the former Colorado CB claimed, “Some people just gotta take a step back from things sometimes, certain people, you know. I feel like I just don’t want to play for clicks. I actually want to be involved with a great leading program that’s going to develop players.” This did not go well with the other program owners and the critics since McClain’s move and statement revealed his egoistic personality, which did not care for a program that prioritized him.

The uncertainty surrounding McClain’s future is palpable. As 247Sports analyst Matt Zeniz puts it, “Even with the talent he [Cormani] has, it’s led a lot of teams I’ve talked to being reluctant to pursue him. It’s led to a point where a lot of teams are planning on not pursuing him.” He closed his statement with spells of uncertainty, “I really have no idea where Cormani is going to end up.”

One by one, the former Buffs who hit the transfer portal find themselves in one program or the other, except for McClain. Now that Cooper has joined the FSU, McClain is still on the road looking for programs that have already shown an interest in drafting him to make the final call.
