With the 2024 NFL Draft looming around the corner, the tension is palpable. And all the focus is on the first 10 probable picks. Going by Matt Miller’s 2024 NFL Mock Draft, on YouTube, “The Rich Eisen Show” dedicated an episode to explore the interdependencies of J.J. McCarthy and Marvin Harrison Jr., the 4th and 5th picks as per the mock draft.

The duo, Miller and Eisen points out the areas in which it will be easier for McCarthy now that the rumors of the quarterback getting into Denver Broncos are reining. In that case, his Michigan Wolverines experience will come in handy.

As per Miller’s latest mock draft, there are chances of the Broncos trading up with the Arizona Cardinals for the 4th overall pick since currently they have their franchise quarterback in Kyler Murray. The Broncos HC, Payton who ranks No.8 in the annual NFL Head Coaching Rankings, can make use of this opportunity. In that case, they may land up former Wolverines’ quarterback, McCarthy. Payton even attended McCarthy’s pro day and opted to meet with the player. However, as per their analysis, it will not be difficult since according to Miller, “This guy can handle me and if you can be coached by Jim Harbaugh for three years I think you can handle Sean Payton as well.”

In that case if the situation arises that Broncos become successful in drafting McCarthy, the transition process will be easier for the quarterback. As further pointed out by the NFL draft analyst, “I think JJ and Sean Payton is really a perfect marriage in terms of personalities and also play style within the offense”. With McCarthy moving into Payton’s squad, it will help Harbaugh to determine his next move by landing the 5th overall pick, Harrison Jr.

Going by the mock draft trend, Harrison Jr. will be one of the first non-quarterbacks to be selected in the NFL Draft 2024. Now that Harbaugh is at the helm of the Los Angeles Chargers, the departure of the two top wide receivers, Kennan Allen and Mike Williams has left the new coach worried. Eyeing on Harrison Jr., Harbaugh aims to pair him with Justin Herbert.

Having the 5th pick in the upcoming draft, the coach from long has his sight on the wide receiver since Ohio State took against the Wolverines. On one such occasion, Harrison Jr. succeeded in catching five passes for 118 yards along with a touchdown. In this way, the Chargers will benefit from the Broncos having the 4th pick.
