Sherrone Moore and Co. lost another of their useful resources this season, not to the transfer portal nor any injury, but to alcohol. Denard Robinson, the staffer at the Michigan Wolverines program, has been reportedly dismissed from his employment. Robinson was arrested on April 15 for allegedly operating while intoxicated early that morning in Ann Arbor.

He is no longer on staff,” Michigan football spokesman Dave Ablauf said Tuesday, revealing the news. The Michigan staffer was arrested for a single-vehicle accident at East Eisenhower Parkway and South State at approximately 3:05 a.m. “I can’t comment further because it’s a personnel matter,” Ablauf added further.

While the Ann Arbor police report is not made public, The Detroit News reported that the charges are pending toxicology reports. The news came as another sad one for the fans after Greg Scruggs’s since Robinson had been a fan-favorite staffer at Michigan. “Always hate to see a guy that meant so much to a program get fired in this way, but Moore did what he had to and I applaud him for that,” a fan commented on X, lauding Moore for firing the guy despite knowing how big of a loss it would be to them.

It was former head coach Jim Harbaugh who hired Robinson earlier in February 2022 as assistant director of player personnel. However, Robinson’s relationship with Michigan is not just related to being a staffer. And his previous relationship with Michigan (and everything he achieved during that) is making fans more emotional after hearing the news.

What the fans have to say about Denard Robinson

Denard Robinson played for Michigan as a QB from 2009 to 2012. The guy was a fan favorite: Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year in 2010, NCAA record-holder for career rushing yards by a quarterback with 4,495 yards, or single-season rushing yards with 1,702 also in 2010, you name it. That might also be precisely the reason fans feel bad for him.

“Very unfortunate. I will appreciate Denard Robinson forever, he is the most electric college football player I’ve ever seen. Also, appreciate the standards Coach Moore is setting for the entire program. Tough decision, but the right decision,” another fan commented, agreeing in unison with the previous fan. Notably, the incident came in the same month as Scruggs’s resignation, another proof of the standards Moore is setting.

“It’s sad to see, alcohol is a drug. Hope he changes for the better after this experience,” said a fan, sad to hear about alcohol being the nemesis of such a fine player. Yet, they stood strong in support of Moore, claiming that he made a tough but necessary decision. “Too bad but it’s clear that this behavior is not allowed. He made the choice. Still very sad though,” another user added.

Hate to see this but I agree with the decision. Still one of my favorite all-time Wolverines to watch play!!! Go Blue!!” another fan added, just proving how much the Maize and Blue fans appreciate Moore doing the needed deed in their university.
